You shouldn't have hit the brakes, you probably wouldn't have spun like that if you didn't
I don't know what you guys are talking about with the 350Z being bad in the rain. I've had no problem at all. I even drive mine in the snow.
Fortunantly you and your GF were OK.

and to the op... driving school teaches u not to hit the brakes on slippry rds... even on dry roads with bumps.... u just let go off the gas. like some1 else said... that's god's warning. simple mistakes like urs is what cost many other to lose their life.
learn to properly drive a rwd car in the rain... else dont even attempt to. i hate seeing people dead in the news.

I drive my Z in the rain and snow as well. You just have to be smart about it.
Glad the OP and his gf are ok.

thanks for everyone for the support. my gf and i are good. My car is still driveable and i went to some body shops, getting quotes from 2000-3000.
My exhaust is also gone, i didn't notice until this morning but it has a huge indent in it.
I went back to the site to check it out in the daylight. i found my missing clear reflector in some mud.
I was lucky because this 50 yard patch of grass is the only one for miles.... had this happened a few seconds sooner or later i'd be toast.
heres some pics of the area:

Glad you're ok. You know what kinda relates though, is that we wear the same shoes, all black Adidas shelltoe. And we both need new tires. When ever I wear those shoes I always lose traction on ice and water and almost fall. We booth need new tires and new shoes.

Nothing better than the Goodyear F1's in rain. We have rain over here 25% of the year and in medium rain I can still do 90 mph with 275/35/19 on the back. With stock potenza's I would be doing 55 mph max.
