Almost Died: Hydroplaned on Freeway Across 5 Lanes Spinning
Small Update
As of now I have completey fixed all the broken undertrays under the car. It cost around 800 at the dealer... And I got my 30k servicing there at the same time. So the car is driveable, just looking ugly.
I still need to put my stock exhaust on due to my helix having major dents.
My GF's Christmas gift finally came after being shipped to the wrong address. Varis B-Pillars and CF Emblem Inserts, all from Intense. I love her.
I have also ordered Queenz350z's full Shine Auto Proj Amuse replica kit and should expect it here in about 2 weeks.
I'll post some pictures up in a few weeks when everything is fixed and complete.

I was driving home on 580-E from SF from a day of shopping with the gf. I was cruising home in 1 lane over from the fast lane, going 70. About 2 miles from my exit its 5 lanes and a semi-truck goes from the middle lane over one, so its next to me.
This truck is shooting water onto my windshield so its hard to see and on top of that it is also throwing rocks that I hear chipping at my windshield. I decide to move one lane over; when I give it some gas my car goes from the fast lane but over steers into the shoulder a little. Im like **** and brake a little and then before i know im im spinning out of control.
I go across all 5 lanes spinning through traffic to the right and past the shoulder of the highway onto grass, then I feel a huge bump and then a few seconds later my car comes to a stop. my gf also had clam chowder from pier 39 that got all over my interior and us.I am about 100 feet off the shoulder and scared ****less with my gf. I thought we were gonna die.
CHP and Tow truck comes and my car is drivable so I drive it slowly home.
Im meh. Rain sucks. Im surprised thats all that happened to the car

Wow glad to hear your okay. The RWD Z can be tricky to drive in the wet. Hope the damage was not too bad and that you get your car fixed in no time!

wow that sucks. sorry to hear that. glad to hear that everyone is ok though. that could have seriously turned out bad.
From the pics, it looks like its primarily just cosmetic damage. you said you heard a thump, was that just your car hitting the ditch? or was there actually something like a guard rail that you hit?
did it drive ok on the way home? i mean besides the fact that you went careening at high speeds across 5 lanes of highway traffic.

It drove ok on the way home, the tow truck man ripped off the mudgaurd on the front tire.
the left exhaust pipe has some much dirt and rocks in it.

I've been through a similar accident and I really feel for you.
What tires are you running? When you braked it probably unbalanced the car,
causing the rapid spin.
I hope your Z recovers quickly.

Nitto 555's are HORRIBLE in the rain. I've had the misfortune of having them on a couple sets in the past. It rains quite a bit here, so I know how tricky it is. I was just tellin' my gf today how scary this car is in the pouring rain on low-pro ultra high performance summer'ish tires! Any of them...

Something does not sound right. You had to be going much faster than 70 to cover than much ground or stayed in the throttle. Get some decent tires (most bridgestone and and toyo performance tires do well in the rain) and look into some kind of hp drivers ed course. This really should not have happened the way it did. At least it looks like the car will be easy to fix.

Right, some Bridgestones lol not the POS's that come on our cars standard.

Elohite, you lucked out on this one...it could've been much uglier. Glad you and you're GF are okay. A few things came to mind when I read what happened. The outter lanes of a freeway aren't the best in the rain, they tend to collect more pockets of water but I would've gotten out of the truck's way the same way you did. Also, how much tread is there left on your rear tires? From the pictures, it doesn't look like much. Also, was TCS/VDC on?
