Default Head on

Found this on another forum. Drunk guy in a Accord hits the Z going about 30 mph! "Yup me and my son going to the in laws for Christmas Eve dinner. Hell bent for election come around a corner a Hohda Accord on the wrong side of the road and blows into me and my son head on going about 30 mph, we had just about stopped when the collision occurred.

Mt sons ok I received whiplash of the neck and am sore now only 4 hours since the accident.

They took this guy off in cuffs, finding him under the influence of booze as well as some kinda of prescription drugs.

A neighbor new this guy and said that he was picked up two weeks ago for DUI, Also two of his brothers are already in jail.

We are lucky he was doing around 30 mph and we had just about stopped.

The whole front end is pushed in to the block. Both doors are hard to open the hood is compressed, wheels are ok.

It's and 06 grand Touring with 6,000 miles on it.

The front bumper brace is totaled. Pop charger is mangled, otherwise hard to tell about frame etc.

This guy was really fu*k up! I got really mad at him and he just sat there in a daze.

He has o insurance and I am fully covered.

I think I am going to lose time from work as well as a repaired car, which I don't want or a settlement were I will have to pay my own cash to get back to where I was car wise.

This guy belongs behinds bars for a long time. We where lucky and yet it will cost me.

Drunk drivers need to be put away the first time period. And an the very least have their cars impounded for a long time. This was my life long first sports car, I am almost 59.
A very sobering experience which can happen any time to anyone.
I am a commercial driver with over 2 million miles driven over 30 years with no accidents. This really pisses me off.

Right now I feel like never driving again. Kinda of tough when it's what I do for a living."

Yikes!

That pop charger should be okay, just needs to be stretched, lol!

Sad thing is most convicted DUIs still drive without a license or insurance for that matter.

Direct from a DUI drivers mouth

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061227/...still_drinking
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Police say a man they pulled over for driving drunk continued to swig his beer during his arrest. Patrick Allain, 35, faces numerous charges after his arrest Monday night, the fourth time he's been arrested for driving while intoxicated. Police say he hit two other cars and initially refused to stop when officers tried to pull him over.

When he finally stopped, Allain allegedly continued to drink a 40-ounce bottle of beer, telling officers, "You can charge me with whatever you want. It's not going to stop me from drinking and driving."

This is why its a good idea to pay a little extra in insurance to get gap coverage. I have gap insurance + $3,000 payout if car is totalled with progressive, hope that guy gets his Z fixed soon.

Well the Z is mine. Myself and my Son are doing fine. I am pretty stiff around the shoulders still but is getting better every day. The Insurance co. thinks that it can be fixed. It is being taken apart as I type. The suspension and frame seem to be ok, but we won't know until it's apart. I told the Insurance Co. that if the suspension or frame is tweaked I will get a lawyer and push for the car to be totaled. I have no gap insurance. It's really better for me if it can be fixed. Otherwise I am looking to buy an used 06 G35 coupe 6mt. This other driver got arrested for DUI, his second one in two weeks. I was really pissed at him and told him so although I think he was oblivious to me yelling at him.

Guys drink if you want , hell get plastered if that what it takes but just DON'T DRIVE

The car really isn't that bad but the memory of him coming straight at us and colliding will last awhile. I fact that my Son could off been seriously hurt is frightening even though he is 22.

Just 7 houses from mine is where the accident occurred. Being a commercial driver I have over 2 million mies with no road accidents. This Z was my weekend toy and I loved every moment driving it.

Thanks for the kind thoughts....understand that it can happen at any time to anyone.

My daughter doesn't drink she is 25 and a school teacher.

My son who is 22 and will graduate in June does drink and he always has a straight driver or he will be the non drinker. He and his friends alternate. While I wish he didn't drink at all at least he is responsible, as is his peer group. Maybe this comes from being a A student. He seems to get it.

I think that the laws should be alot harder for DUI.
