Question Buying 350z

Hey guys, I'm new here so don't rip me too much about this post. I did own a 02 Sentra SE-R Spec-V, after 8k in mods and a blown engine, I sold it. I currently have a 97 200sx SE-R and trying to mod the crap out of it because of the sweet SR20DE engine it has.
Anyway, I'm buying an 06 350z next month, and I need to know from people that already own one if there is anything I should look out for on the 350z. I didn't know at the time when I bought the 02 Spec-V that it had insane amount of problems on it, so I don't want to make the same mistake twice. Everything I read about the 350z say its a super reliable car and is really friendly to after market performance parts, but than again, these same people said the same thing about my Spec-V. I love nissans(maybe not the new sentras and versa) and I love the Z models. So any information would be greatly appreciated.
Also, my friend is getting a twin turbo 300zx(paying a crazy amount for it too) but I also need to talk to people who know some great parts that I should look at(no turbos) for the 350z so I can beat his car

Check out altered atmospheres site, they aren't far away and have lots of mods just for the z. a good start would be an intake plenum spacer, catback exhaust (pick your poison there are hundreds of videos and reviews on here) test pipes and an ecu reflash. just do some searches within this site and also check out the regional forum where most of the MD and VA guys post.

Heres a short list of problems:
2006 6sp, some seem to be having oil consumption issues
< 2003-04.5 - tire feathering, window motor, side window grease streaks
all years seem to cause an increase in speeding tickets , haha... j/k

Overall the z is pretty sound imo

Just make sure the z you buy is under warranty. Then you dont really have to worry about anything.

i dont want to mess this guys thread up with this so this is my last post in here.

Its not just words over the internet. If you are getting a z or already have a z. This is a good site to be on. You dont want to get banned. I know im gettin a z soon and ill be modding it and i deff dont want to get banned from here. I got banned from newcelica when i still had my celica and i had a hard time gettin info. Now i use a proxy server and they cant stop me but thats not the point. Also, if you get banned here, people over the net are *******s and theyll follow you to other sites just to **** you off. trust me on this cuz im speakin from experience. and besides, why try to make enemies when you can make freinds. know what im sayin?

Damn, i cant beleive i just typed all that. im done. back on topic.

Search for polls on oil consumption. Quite a few of the 06 Z's have this problem (including mine). Many people have succeeded in getting their engines replaced under warranty. It's not really the end of the world though, My car burns a quart every 2000 miles or so. Not that big of a deal. RX-8's burn oil too...

Anyway why not an 07? the engine is significantly upgraded, you get 500 more RPM's, somewhere in the range of 15-20 extra HP all for only about 250 more dollars and a willingness to have an ugly *** hood on your car. If I were buying a (new) Z now, i'd definately go for an 07. If you're looking for a used low mi one obviously what i've just said isn't that helpful...
