Default Z off-roading

Hypothetically...

If a Z were to pretend it was a truck and try to reverse itself over a curb, onto some grass, and back down a curb... and one were to hear scraping... what would one want to check for damage? (Assuming one can't see anything wrong, but definitely heard some noise...)

Help?

Go to the DMV and hand them your driver's license.

I would take it to a shop and lift it up! the Z has some funny bracing down there so hopefully you just scrapped things up? but you could have dented a exhaust can, broken an exhaust hanger. etc....
its worth lifting and double checking..

Check the exhaust(tips and muffler), the rear splash guards, and lower bumper. Everything else should be higher than that or in front of the rear wheels. Depending on how far back you went you could've hit the side skirts, mid pipe, and cross braces.

Kids doing donuts in the parking lot skidded out and I gunned it in reverse to get out of the way... I just didn't know the curb was so close. So it's not THAT noobish.

In hindsight, I guess I should have let their insurance fix my front end... now who knows what I've f*cked up.

Thanks for the help guys!

I checked it out just now with the help of my friend and from what I can see, it's just minor scraping on the exhaust pipe... don't think I need to lift it up as I can't see anything lower than that.

Strange that it sounded so loud and scary!

I feel better now, thanks all.

MORAL OF THE STORY: A stock Z CAN successfully go up and down a regular-sized curb without serious risk. Not that I'd ever do it intentionally.

Check your cats/ cat mounts. Check for exhaust leaks from the joints in the system(gaskets/bent pipes)

If one was unfortunate to do such a thing, I would check the rear differential housing. Any external damage might indicate internal damage. Also insure that all the bolts and in place, and properly torqued. That is if someone was dumb enough to do such a thing.

If you were with these so called kids in the so called parking lot then you would be a so called kid who does not need to be driving a so called z. Plus what the hell are you doing spinning out in a parking lot, are you trying to f your car up, there is no reason to put yorself in that position

Cheers

Kevin

O and we have all done the so called burn out you speak of

That "hypothetical" situation sounds pretty realistically described, .

So because he's a kid he doesnt have any ability or rights to own a Z? Even if he were to say a investor who makes quite a bit more than you possibly?

How was he spinning out?

I for one have been sitting in my Z at a circuit city parking lot before and a couple kids in there Rice mobile civics and 1 in a riced out mustang came Tokyo drift style through the parking lot and almost hit me. Basically I just held on and hoped they did so I could rack up the insurance claims, but then again thats me :-)

First off read his post correctly...he wasn't spinning out, other people were.
Second off, I didn't know you had to be the same age as people to use the same parking lot.
Third off, it's just a Z...they aren't that expensive. Just because someone younger than you has the same car as you doesn't mean it's too much of a car for them.

Here's exactly what the OP said, i dont see where he said anything about "His friends who were spinning out".

"Kids doing donuts in the parking lot skidded out and I gunned it in reverse to get out of the way... I just didn't know the curb was so close. So it's not THAT noobish. "

Good game? He didnt say a single damn thing about knowing the people or being affiliated with the people 'spinning' out in the parking lot.
