What are people getting rid of/trading in for their new Z?

I thought the 928 was more of a GT cruiser. Aren't they like 3500 lbs? Go-Kart usually refers to a light-weight nimble car like the mini, or miata, or MR-2, or S2000. I never thought of the 928 as go-kart like.
Drove a 1650 lb Lotus for 10 years, and I have to agree that a 928 is NOT a go cart.
I'll be selling a '97 Jetta GLX. 64,000 miles. Never in an accident. Still faster than many. Not babied, but still has original tyres. Only raced on weekends. Offers over $15,000 welcomed
re-read my post, nearly triple the HP, doubling the weight. Where is MY Z???????

I will be selling my '99 Chevy Blazer ZR2, and keeping my 2001 Ducati Supersport. Not too practical, but I certainly won't have to worry about being bored. Plus, I am not going to be the designated driver for weekends in Tahoe anymore!
I will be trading in my 1998 mitsubshi 3000GT for my 350Z Performance super black 6MT. Will keep my 1993 Mazda RX-7 TT. Like to compare the acceleration of 350Z to the RX-7.
My wife and I went through my list of cars the other day, there were many:
in order
83 Sentra
87 Hyundai (had it 2 months)
86.5 Hardbody 4x4
70 240Z
88 Sentra
72 240Z
71 240Z
85 Maserati Biturbo E (#36/200)
88 Isuzu Impulse
91 240SX
91 300ZX TT
94 Integra (wife, she had a 87 MR2 before we got married, her 1st car)
94 Silverado (3/4 drop)
95 Integra GS-R (wife)
72 240Z (starting to see a pattern)
96 S-10 SS
96 Z-28 Convertible (wife)
97 Blazer (3/4 drop, wife)
89 Ford Probe GT (job change, huge temp. paycut)
99 Mustang V-6 (handled like a truck)
00 Saab 9-3
00 BMW 323Ci (wife)
01 S-10 4 cyl.
02 IS300 Sportcross (wife)
02 S-10 V-6
03 350Z!
back to the subject though, since the Saab is leased and we are buying a new house (see house vs. apartment post) we are selling my wifes sportcross. We were going to keep all 4, but that really is impractical.

... A '78 Toyota 2WD pickup. 22R engine, 20R heads, decked block by 0.005, flat-topped pistons, complete port and polish, free-flowing exhaust, high-flow Weber carb, custom balanced cam and crank, and other engine goodies...
It won't run on regular (Premium or higher). Why, you ask? Well, my gal runs stock cars out at the local track in Richland, WA, and races old Celicas. This is actually her truck for breaking in race motors, and so to help me out, I get to borrow it until my Z arrives. Long story short, my '89 Chev 3/4 ton 4x4 hit 150k miles and the engine started blowing 1qt per 200 miles up through the pistons into the intake. So, this is what I have.
Don't worry - I get laughed at all the time, and I usually laugh with them. Just makes waiting for my Z that much harder, but I love smoking Civics off the line...

I drove a 93 Prelude Si automatic for 9 years and recently gave it to my dad; replaced with a 2000 CRV (for towing purposes). Now I am going to move up to the Z, never had anything over 4 cyl & 160hp (the prelude). Also, all have been automatic, the Z will be manual.

damn.....25 cars!!!!!!!!! Thats a lot. what age was your first car? And on average how long have you kept them?
First car was new, I was almost 18. My dad bought it cause I had a full ride scholarship. Kept that one for 4 years, but I'll be 37 in september. So those are all over an almost exact 19 year time frame. I had my last 240Z for 5 years, the 1st Sentra for 4 and my wife's blazer for 4 because of the job change, other than that, anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 1/2 yrs. Most of the cars were new. I know it costs a lot to switch so much, believe me, I know, but its a sickness, and its what we like to do with our money. I work with guys that spend $500/month on golf, or have great boats, their own airplane, or even just 2 kids in private school, so its not much different.

hey...thats fine with me.
It shows that your a true car nut.
I'm working on 3 cars in my lifetime. By the way, which car did you only have for 2 weeks?
the 70 240, I bought it from my brother before I knew much about cars, and on the drive from Jacksonville to Pensacola, it started spewing oil, so I gave it back. Besides, he overcharged me!
My 1970 240Z. Totally restored, full of Nissan Comp Parts.
I will miss it very much.
