The only difference that I know of between the 06's and the 06.5's is that the 06's start when you turn the key. ...j/k

Crappy deal bro... hope it's something quick and you get it back soon.

My last car had a key just for opening the doors, same pattern as the ignition key also. If you tried to start the car with it, it would disable the ignition switch for like 5mins or something. The only difference was that the engine would still turn over with that key just wouldn't start. It was a Sentra, don't know if z's have a key like this.

The key ignition fuse most likely blew out.....

Covered in the warranty.. shouldn't be a problem

There were problems with MAF sensors that would cause cars to shut down totally while moving.

How would that affect the starter?

Why are you so sure it is the starter?

My friend's brand new G just shut off on him on a number of occasions while driving and went dead and then wouldn't start or anything for some time and then, unpredictably, it would start up in awhile when you turned the key.

These cars are systems, not individual units. If one thing goes wrong, it can cause the entire system to shut down.

Do you want to explain to me how a MAF sensor is going to affect the starter turning over? Or maybe how an empty tank of gas will do the same?

I didn't say it was a faulty starter.....

I mean I guess it could... but I don't think that's likely. Sure I could be wrong. I think it's more along the lines of a bad key.... blown fuse... bad wiring... etc... I guess when he gets it fixed we will see....

I think the dealership started the car for him. And when he had to start the car for the first time, he forgot to press the clutch to start

God I'm a dick.

just a thought: don't be so trusting in universal city. from what i've experienced, their service department is subpar.

not only that, because of the way the entire place is situated and laid out, the heavily trafficed alley behind the service department is ridiculously narrow. i've personally witnessed salesmen scrape up brand new, unsold cars against other other cars, and seen service-people banging up customer's cars against one another, against walls, against equipment, etc. the place is a joke.

Tow truck drivers are well aware of that noobie mistake. He said the tow truck driver tried and couldnt start it either. Very doubtful the tow truck driver is blonde.

Actually, remembering back it was his throttle body sensor that was bad.

How can this stop the car from starting, well....

The computer runs the car, the throttle body sensor is screwed up, the computer senses this and shuts the entire car down. No starter.

I was in my friend's car with him when he had this problem and when he turned the key it did not make a single noise! Dead.

Just trying to help based on experience and not conjecture.
