What does your voltage meter read when you put the key in? It should read 12 Volts. Its 14 volts when your car is on.

If that fails...the next question is do you have a MT? Did you push the clutch ALLLLL the way?

Did you get the upgraded alarm? If so it may be the engine kill, you should be able to fix everything with the keypad.

The car is less than a week old, I'm sure they'll fix it.

Have you tried mannually depressing the switch with you hand?
Maybe it's not the switch, but the button-like piece of plastic that triggers the switch. This happened to my 300ZX. I realized the problem when I saw the green plastic parts on the floor mat. I then found the switch with my hand, pushed it in, turned the key, and the car started.

My car did the same thing. I had the same problem. BUT I bought mine used and mine happened a day after they did the recall on the fuel hoses on my car. I parked it, went to my studio and when I came back I tried to start it and it would just crank and crank and crank like If It was thirsty for gas...I had half tank though...I got mad...walked away before I would hit it, came back like 20mins later and it started

Oh please will the OP report back on what the solution was! Reading these theories and helpful offers are not the same if we never find out. It would be like reading a book with the last chapter missing.

so I picked up my car today, seems Universal City Nissan installs a secondary alarm system for when the car is on the lot that they deactivate and uninstall when the car is purchased. Well they deactivated but did not uninstall it. A wire came loose on the alarm and it caused the car not to start up anymore. *sigh* this is annoying as hell but I guess its better than being something mechanical!

Bad wiring it is!

Thanks for following up. We were all dying with curiosity here. I'm sure it sucked for you but it turned out to be not so bad after all.

Thanks for the update. Let your dealership know they are now famous(infamous) for their oversight.

lol, they're getting quite a reputation for not finishing up alarm jobs... when they installed my lojack they didnt put away/zip tie up the cables... bunches of wires started falling/hanging down into the driver's footwell.
