There is a service bullitin for early gas pump shut-off. If you are concerned, have the service completed. Of course you will pay for it.

Or just live with the fact that the fuel gage is inaccurate.

350z's are "notorious" for fuel related problems.

faulty sending unit, faulty shutter valve, fuel filler hose recall... etc..

I always try to use Chevron gas, the few times that I had to use Arco I had problems getting gas in the car. One time I couldnt get the pump to work at all; tried two more pumps with the same problem. Drove to the 76 about a mile up the road and filled the tank with no problems. Maybe there is different valve design at the pumps? I dont know. I never have problems at Chevron though.

curious to why some people don't go below a 1/4 of a tank, and always fill up then...
keeps any possible condensation out of tank, does not allow sediments to block tank fuel filter etc. .

The most I have ever been able to cram in is 18.7 gallons, and that was after driving 25 miles or so AFTER it said 0 DTE.

I don't think there's really a light. The info automatically goes to your miles range when it gets below a 30 mile range (like when the temp gets to the icy range) and blinks until you flip it off. Personally I've driven when it was blinking "---" just to see how far i could go for a while and then finally filled up only about 17 something gallons. Pretty much the same as a bunch of other posters. Its annoying though because after you fill up the gas gauge drops like mad until about a half tank (which I'm guess really means you have about 15 gallons left) so it makes u think ur getting no gas mileage.

yep. Ive had this problem before and just last night, my gauge said 1/8 in the tank, and I filled the tank until the pump shuts off, and went to reset the miles per tank stat, and the tank only read 3/4 full.

I have a '03, when I get low it will only fill to half a tank. Also one time I was stuck on the PA turnpike and drove forever with gas light on. Didn't even register on the digital DTE. I didn't mean to. Just happened. somehow I made it to a gas station in some back woods area. Again, only filled to half a tank.

When running to empty keep in mind that fuel pumps are lubricated by the gas they sit in when your tank is not empty. Not that running your car empty will cause the fuel pump to expire, but it may cause excessive wear and tear in hotter weather when it is dry out.

Also for cold weather when the air is wet and dense it is recomended to stay at least above 1/4 tank to keep any condensation out of the tank.

The most I've ever filled in my 03 is 15.2 gallons or so, the least my DTE has ever gotten is in the 20's, not that I don't believe that their is 3-4 more gallons in their, I just don't want to run that risk of running out. How silly does a guy with a Z look on the side of the road. Is good to know now just in case.
