Screw the interior... I could drive around sitting on a milk crate and shifting with a screwdriver.... I want factory TTs.

The hood is growing on me and with the new engine I don't think I'd mind a bulge in my pants... err hood.

I honestly don't think the hood is to clear the engine. I believe it's just a trial design in lieu of the 2008 redesign.

I believe unless other wie proven wrong that an 06' hood would fit an 07' engine w/o clearance issues.

Next time you are at the dealer, pop the hood and look across the fenders to see if the engine protrudes past the fender plane.

All the 07 hood haters will buy the hood and add it to their 03-06 Z, just like the guys that hated the new headlights and tail lights and now have them on their Z. :0)

I have seen the car in person with the hood up. It needs the new hood.

After looking at so many 07's, you get used to it. It goes very well with the curvy lines of the car. It makes the front area look meaner and more blunt. Looking at the 03-06 now looks odd to me. Why is the body so curvatious and the hood so flat and these two hard cut extrusion running down it?

but thats jsut me...

I wouldn't change the interior. What do you want? Stupid wood trim? Jeebus.

Wood is a matter of taste, but I think what most people, including myself, want is something not so plastic and cheap feeling. The fit and finish in the Z is below par compared to other cars in the the price range. I can name a long list of cars in this range or cheaper with nicer fit finish on the inside. If the Z wasn't so damn good looking on the outside I would not have overlooked this issue. And on the other subject, yes the new Zs with the HR engine needs the hood.

+1.

Its plastic wood trim that some people want. I have never able to get out objectively from members on the forum what exactly is so bad about Z's interior, its neither the best in the industry nor the worst, its decent. Every car has plastic on the interior, which part of the plastic in the Z is so bad. I find it to be very pleasing, fit is also above average.

Cheap feeling is subjective, tell us what objectively is so bad about it. And the list of the cars too please.

+1 on the TT. That would really shut up the STi and Evo owners. Until then, we'll have to shut them up with aftermarket TT.

To me, the hood is not great, but it does not seem to take away from the overall good looks of the car. It is different and I am sure it will grow on just about everyone here. I have seen a lot of photos with aftermarket hoods on here that are far worse.

You are right. Cheapness is subjective so here is my subjective take on the Z's interior. Now keep in mind there's a difference between the quality of the fit and finish and the materials used vs. the design of the interior. Those are two separate issue. Here is my short list of cars with better interiors in the same price range:

1) Acura TL
2) Honda S2000
3) VW GTi
4) Lexus IS250
5) Audi A4
6) .....
7) .......

I can go on. My cousin just bought a new Civic Si for around $20k and I must say the interior is very nice. As to what I don't like about the Z's interior, here is my short list again:

1) 03-05 Giant plastic door piece with no side inserts. (They tried to address this in the 06+ with the extra piece)

2) The endless creaks and rattling. They are like cockroaches. You fix one and there's 10 more somewhere waiting to pop up

3) The center console. Cheap hard plastic. S2000 has brushed aluminum and leather inserts.

4) The gauges. Old school single hue orange. Most cars in this price range have moved to extra bright displays.

5) Even the grade of plastic feels thinner and cheaper than those of the 300ZX.

6).....

7).......

I can go on but I think you get the picture of where I am coming from. I'm not saying I hate the car or else I wouldn't have bought it. All I am saying is I think Nissan could have and should have done a little bit more on the inside even though they cut cost to make the 350Z affordable in the high $20s to $30s.

My point exactly, But they were on to something building a base price RWD sportscar for under 30K. Had do cut corners somewhere I guess.

I just wanted to see af anyone felt about the hood like I felt about the interior. The feedback I'm getting from this board seems like the hood is so hideous that if it came on the 03 model Nissan woulda lost alot of customers. JMHO

The hood just like the interor CAN be changed if you really like the car.

Well I know they cut a lot of the cost with just moving away from the turbos. That is one of the main reasons the Japanese supercars of the 90s got axed. Too high of a production cost along with poor sales due to high price tag made those cars short lived. Never the less I do agree that with the deletion of the turbos we would still be far off from $28-$30k

I like the hood and I like the interior. I agree that the Altima's old interiors were kind of bland. But I think the interior on the Z is fitting of it's sports car image.

Thumbs down

from the front...i can get used to it.....

but if you look at the profile...it seroiusly kills the smooth lines of the car....

literally obliterates it and looks out of place, fo SHO!

So the hood is just for looks, not for clearance?
