Default 07 hood haters

I hear a lot of stink about the new 07 hood. I have personally seen several 07 at a stealership here in so cal. I can tell you its not that noticable especially from the front. You actually have to be looking for the lil hump to see it. I think also due to the fact that the bodystyle is now on its 5th year and the new one is not due out until 09 Nissan had to do something different. It makes the 07 different from the other years and still buys them a few years before redesign. But seriously thats not the worst thing about this car.

My big gripe with nissan was the poor materials used for the interior and how cheep it looked . I spend more time IN my car looking at the interor the dash and finishings on the doors than looking at the hood. Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way as I have seen post after post trashing the hood. Just wondering if there are as many hood haters as their are interior design haters like myself. I felt the interior was so unlike the old 300ZX. That car didn't have the greatest body but was still pretty sleek and had great performance. I was dissapointed . I come from a looong line of Nissan owners and jumped ship because of the interior. After hearing how "cute" my 06 GTI was (wich by the way has an awesome interior that makes you think you're in an Audi) that was the last straw. Always loved the body, image and styling of the Z and never heard a girl call it cute but felt I was in a civic or equivalent due to craftmanship......what's a guy to do? Get a Z and put an interior in it that Nissan shoulda. I dunno if Nissan got wise to what was goin on but the interior pics of the new Altima coupe look waaaaay better than the old Alti and 350z design. Welcome back Nissan

Just my $.02 07 350z here I come (Lord willin)

The interior was the last thing on my mind when I purchased my Z.

I dont like the look from the few pics Ive seen, but that will likely change when I see it in person. To be honest with you, I thought the 350Z was ugly as $hit when it came out nearly 4 years ago judging from pics, then I saw one in person, up close and I fell in love...the rest is history

ya i mean if you wanted the nicer interior, go to the G35. thats honestly the only reason why i considered the G at all. it is more luxurious than the Z.

honestly i feel like the interior of the Z is my little cockpit. i love it the way it is and couldnt imagine it any different.

at first when i saw the pics of the new 07 350z...the hood caught my eyes and i thought...what the hell..that looks wierd...it looks like a whale's nose..or something similar like that.

but then i saw the 07 350z in person when i stopped by the dealership for oil change and i was walking around..i saw one..i thought wow..it looks damn cool. nothing's changed except for the hood and the engines..overall..it looks like an 06 but with different hood and more engine powers...

thats my .02 cents..

btw ..i dont care about the interiors....its all about the Z baby!

shift3.5, sounds like you missed your calling as an interior designer. only girls care about that stuff, guys care about things like, power, handling, racing, smoking tires, exhaust notes etc.

Question

Any chance that we can put all the pro and anti-pregnant hood threads in one thread. Its just a hood for crying out loud.

Someone already tried making an "official I hate the '07 hood" thread a month or 2 back... it didn't end up being very effective.

I'm sick of seeing all of the 1-line "that hood looks like " comments in an otherwise good/informative thread.

simple fix for the interior: leather seats, carbon fiber center console cover, and carbon arm rest covers (where the window controls are).

I honestly don't think the hood is to clear the engine. I believe it's just a trial design in lieu of the 2008 redesign.

I believe unless other wie proven wrong that an 06' hood would fit an 07' engine w/o clearance issues.

Next time you are at the dealer, pop the hood and look across the fenders to see if the engine protrudes past the fender plane.

In one of the test drive threads, the dude said the top of the intake manifold was flush with the top of the fenders.

i love this interior and wish nissan did something like this on the higher end models, also with intelligent key.

regardless, i still think the 07Z , at least on the low end, is a great deal.

Wow that is a really nice interior. Where did you get those pics? If Nissan made the Z's interior half as nice as that one then nobody would complain. But then again what do you expect from a $28k 350Z vs. the $46K 300TT?

I agree the interior should have been nicer for the few of us that spent the 40+K on the 35th when it was released, true the leather is nice and the floor mats a somewhat more plush but +1000 on that above interior design. I would give anything to have the Zs interior that nice from the factory.

imo the 07 base Z is an amazing deal... esp if you can talk them down to like $26k

i cant imagine it would cost more than $2k to do the leather work above.. then add the seats for what, another $2k? + a 3.9Final Drive ($1k?), a couple grand in other body parts, $4k in wheels, $1.5k in coilovers... you've got a really really nice ride for $38k or so.
