Default Extended warranty cover labor?

Well, I knew this day would finally come when I had to take in my '03 Z to the dealer for more than just routine maintenance, i.e. repairs. Now at 60k mi., my ECU, VDC and cruise control all seem like they are acting up.

Fortunately when I bought my Z, I also got a Security+Plus-Gold 7yrs/100,000 mi extended warranty, but today when I was talking to the service manager to schedule a time he said the warranty only covers parts, not labor. After hanging up, I re-read the warranty certificate, and curiously nowhere does it mention labor. What gives?

P.S. As a side note, even though I love my Z, I must admit, after having lived with the feathering problem for four years and Nissan doing diddly about it, I don't have much confidence in Nissan as a service-oriented company. I hope they come through this time.

I honestly couldn't tell you. But I did get the same warranty, so I'm interested in how this goes.

What good is a warranty that covers parts only. Do you get free parts and have to install them yourself?

I hope so. Anyway we'll find out Monday. And thanks Jason - I know you'll be watching my back.

The service writer will first document the concern. the technician will find the primary cause of failure... the service writer will then look up the part and see if it is a covered component (this is looked up in the warranty flat rate manual)... it will state if it is only covered under factory warranty / power train / or if you have an aftermarket contract... security plus gold and gold are the ones that have the most covered components...

All parts and labor are paid for...

some contracts require a deductable to be paid... deducatables are paid per concern...

I have security plus preferred certified and parts/labor are both covered. No deductible.
