Default Need Assistance Copying A key

I have a big problem. I imported an Extera for my father to Costa Rica From Ft. Lauderdale where I bought it from a dealer new. At the time of sale we got one key. The other key remained in the car due to the fact that the shipping company had to drive the vehicle. The car arrived in CR and of course they lost the key. So now we have one key. My dad went to the Nissan dealer in CR for a key and they refused to make him a key or service the car in any manner since it was a US model. So now we have only one key. If it gets lost we are phucked. The dealer in Ft lauderdale said he needed the vehicle to make the key and to program the vehicle to acceptthe new key. Soooo WTF do I do now? Any way to get a key?

the only way to get a key is to bring it to a nissan dealer......they cut you a new key, then program it to the car. my suggestion would be to try another local dealer and see what they say.

So, you actually EXPORTED a X-tera to your father in Costa Rica. It sounds as if you really are "phucked" if you lose the key. All I can say is tell your father to be very cautious.
