Default Bogus ticket and now Shifter ZR3

Well I got nabbed over the weekend 88 in the 70 around 9 PM on Friday by a Monroe County Sheriff car. No I was not going 88 and the officer would not show me the readout or could tell me the distance he lasered me at. My detector went off and I muted it because I was not speeding! I was traveling in GA with my baby sister (11) taking her home to FL. I never speed with her in the car.

It was the end of month and he got another ticket for his quota.

My prepaid legal (don’t ask) is going to take my case for me . . .haha I guess the officer thought out-of-state driver will just pay the $125 fine. WHATEVER!

B.T.W. - This is my first ticket ever. What a crock. I will be the first to admit that I drive fast . . .often, but if I get a ticket I want to be doing something worth getting a ticket. Now I have to be extremely careful to not get another.

Time for counter measure!!!!!

Ouch I feel your pain. I'm very weary and cautious towards the ends of months whenever I drive now. Good luck.

I feel your pain, but cosine error only helps you. If the cop is directly in front or behind you, it should be your perfect speed. For every degree off boresight, your speed will decrease in an exponential manner, until it reaches zero at a perfectly perpindicular path compared to the radar. This is due to the doppler radar receiving no compression or expansion of the wave when you're not going directly towards or away from it.

And that's my nerdiest post ever.

Sine error must really exist because a few years back, I got a ticket for supposedly going 67 in a 40 around a curve. In reality, I was going like 45. However, the cop showed me the readout and sure enough, it read 67. All I could do was laugh to myself.

Again cosine error only helps you. Read my above post again, physics work the same every time. What does happen sometimes is that the cop will get an erroneous reading with moving radar when it ricochets back and forth between a couple of cars going opposite directions before getting back to the antenna, but that usually gives readings over 100 mph. With a stationary radar, things like power lines can give temporary erroneous readings, due to the really dirty sidelobes coming out of the radar. I've seen 60+ mph readout with no cars around, while sitting under a power line. The cop SHOULD make a visual determination, then use the radar to back it up, which is pretty much infallible. After working traffic for just a couple of months I was able to call a speed within a mile per hour or two every time, verified by the radar. (btw, that was my old job. I haven't been a cop for 10 years now)

He was using a mounted Mobile radar and was approching me... with the given situation (Posible large radar reflactors and angle away from dead on) I know U was going slower... tired it again another day and almost fliped and could not get up to the same speed.... this was in my 4runner
