Hmm, there's actually an amazing spread of ex-RPI people floating around. The only person I know currently living in Boston is this kid from Great Neck who currently drives a Maxima.

Zboy, your questions are answered in the affirmative.

We have the same thing in Oklahoma, the only tires that work on ice are studded tires and they are illegal in many states. I won't go out in my cars after an ice storm, nobody here knows how to drive in snow, much less ice(with the exception of VQ and other ok posters, Maybe).

We had several ice storms last winter, the entire SE of Okla(closely bounded by I35 on the West and I 40 on the North; kinda X-Files spooky) was declared a major disaster area with more than $50 M in damages. Its pretty rural and a lot of homes, farms, etc. were without power for months, not an exaggeration, many of them were unreachable after the storm because all the fields and roads turned into Mud and utilities could not get to any of their equipment in to make repairs, too heavy. Honda and other brands made a lot of money selling portable generators. A shipment would come into a retail outlet and they would be sold in hours, not days. I'll take snow any day over ice. Pretty bizarre for "Twister" territory, huh?

Boomer--in Tornado Alley, Ice Man, just not Vanilla.
