Break-IN Beyond 1200 Mile (4000 RPM)
Now that I'm at 1200 Miles in my Sunset Z, is there any special procedures to continue the break-in past 4000 RPM up to the redline RPM's (6600-6700 ?). Recommended procedure to optimize the engine for long term reliability/performance ?

You know that just doesn't seem right to me that the first 1200 miles I am under 4k (currently at 900) and afterwards I can crank it to 6600 rpm.
I have gone over the 4000 rpm mark a couple of times. But I will probably do another 500 miles setting the limit at 5000 rpm then another 200 at 6000.
But that is my plan of course This would put me at 2000 miles (1900) but I think then the engine will be prept pretty well. Don't know what other have done.
Also just curious if I do go over 4000 rpm during breakin will this damamge the engine?

wel, don't think it will damage your engine if your do above 6000 rpm after break in period. Even if you do above 4000rpm during break in period. IMHO the reason for keeping below 4000rpm during break in period is to prevent small metal chips from the new engine from damagin your valves. The engine itself can definitely handle above 4000rpm or 6000rpm for that matter. It just the possible problem of small metal chips coming out of the brand new engine. Hence it is recommended to use mineral oil for 1000 and 5000 oil change. Mineral oil are better at flushing out debris. I am going to do that and then use synthetic oil at 10000.
