Default Thinking about the new TT Roadster...

First of all, I do love my ZR. But I had an 04 TT Roadster, which was just awesome in the snow with all-season tires. 35 days after I bought it, some old fart in a Crown Vic ran a red light and hit me head on, totalling both cars. We ended up buying my wife her dream Lexus with the insurance check. I kept the pickup.

I've had my Z since August of last year. I drove it today in about 3" of snow, and even with my snow tires, I had some trouble on steep inclines. It's not bad for a RWD sports car, but it doesn't come close to what the TT is capable of in snow and slush.

Carousel Audi keeps sending me new stuff on the TT, and yesterday, they sent me an order form with prices. $45k for the TT Roadster with Quattro and 6MT. Options extra, bringing it up to $47-50k. Yikes!!!

The few times I will drive my Z in the snow, I'll have these deviant thoughts. In the spring/summer/fall with the top down, I'll remember that the Z has so much more power and soul than the TT (at least the 1st gen TT like I had). And yet the new '08 TTR has me intrigued, even with its high price tag.

Anybody else considering the new TT?

Audi has a far better interior and semi-VIP status

Ah just buy a used Pathfinder for the snow and all will be good for $45K Less:

Then you'll have a 4WD with the heart of a Z. It's probably a lot more reliable than that Audi, will cost 10x less to repair, and you won't car so much about all the muck you get on the truck. Plus .... You'll have ground clearance and something to tow and go on the back roads in...

Just a thought .... Toss the pick up and buy a cheap trailer for hauling...

Works really well for me.

Of course keep your Z for sunny days ....
