so can you park in reverse?
so can you park in reverse?
When I took my license test back in 1985, it was a requirement to parallel park? It was a piece of cake back then and even easier with today's cars!
I take it all you do is learn to ride like a thug nowadays and you get your license?

Uhm, put in reverse, turn around, look and steer to where you want to park? How hard is that?

I was just getting out of diapers.
just make sure for good measure you do a clutch drop in reverse then back it up into the spot! def. try this while 2 or 3 police officers are nearby right as shift change occurs!

I used to drive a liquor truck... which is basically a turbo diesel bobtail with a long pull out ramp on the back....and at every place where you have to deliver more than a few cases you would have to pull the ramp out to make your life easier.... and in some places it's VERY TIGHT... you would have a tiny parking lot to maneuver around in.... and you may only have a few inches to work with to get the ramp in the exact place it needs to be.... with only one parking place open.. I would always stab it on the first shot and make it look simple... when I trained new guys they were always intimidated and I would have to show them alternate ways of doing things until they figured it out...
Backing a car up is a joke, seriously. Hell, it's easier than backing a trailer and backing a trailer is pretty damn easy too. If anyone is having problems you should go find an empty parking lot and practice.
To the OP:
6 months and you never, ever put the car into reverse? Uh, parking lots, the garage, parallel parking, making 3-point turns...
It's not any harder than moving forward starting with 1st. Certainly you've done that?

Are you ****ing kidding me? People are on the road who dont know how to reverse park in a stick? Whats the difference bewteen this and reverse parking with an automatic if you know how to drive a stick?

When I am parking my car in reverse, or reversing in any sort of small distance or tight spot, it is a process of feathering the clutch and gas pedals to try to make the movement as smooth as possible. A lot of times I will let the clutch pedal partially out and give it some extra gas to get the car moving, then put the clutch all the way in and use the car's momentum and brakes to control the motion. Yes you will be "riding" your clutch to some extent, but I believe that's how it's done. The only time you will be letting your clutch out completely in reverse is if you have to reverse for a longer distance (i.e. out of a long driveway). So don't worry about riding your clutch a bit when reversing into a parking spot...that's what you probably should do. Ideally you would never have to wear unnecessarily on your clutch like that, but ideally your tires would also never wear out...and there would be no world hunger...and we would have world peace...you get it.
