i have a total noob question, and i admit it, please limit your flaming: should the production year and the 'born on' or manufactured year [that you find inside the driver's door] be the same? mine's an 06 but was born in 05..is that right?

awesome. thanks.
ok wait another stupid noobish question: i went back and re-read this thread about VINs: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=VIN
the last 6 digits of mine are 350975. there's no way it's the 350,975th z, as there were only 120,533 made....so........wtf? is it the 50,975th one? that doesnt make sense either, as that would put it in the 04 range. wtf am i misunderstanding here?

for lack of a better place to ask, I have been trying to find out what the production numbers were for Z's in the Ultra Yellow color. As far as I know this color was only made in '05, but besides the 05 numbers no one has been able to tell me the number made specifically in that color. Any ideas? Just want to know how rare a color it is.

UY is just as "rare" as any of the other limited edition colors like Brickyard, Liquid Aluminium, etc.

Hmmmm, very interesting information. I have actually been searching for Honda S2000 production or sales numbers for North America. (my roommate just got a '02 s2k and we have been debating which car there are more of on the road) Thanks for the info.

Hmmm interesting...
There are plenty of obvious reasons contributing to the drop in sales:
- People snatching up used Z's, who wanted them before.
- New or re-designed options in the "sportscar category" distracting the general segment of buyers (Solstice, Sky, Mustang GT, Miata etc...), a segment the Z dominated for awhile.
- Prospective Z owners realizing they could make a compromise with a G35 coupe. Especially since there are used ones on the market now.
- The novelty of "exclusivity" has worn off for some.

I got mine when there were no redlines Z`s in Costa Rica, for about 1 year I had the only redline 350Z in Costa Rica.

I'm having a hard time finding production numbers for Australia, Europe, Japan and all other non-North American Nissan sales.
Has anyone had any luck? I've found the Global sales but they only break their production numbers into passenger and commercial sales.
