You have an early-ish manufacturing date, but the earliest 350zs come from June 2002 (06/02). By october, Nissan completed nearly half a year of production. I can guarantee that my 350z is earlier than anyone on this forum.
I don't think the 370 is much of a flop as it is a victim of economic conditions. The sales have been pretty flat for the last couple of years, including the time prior to the release.

I looked at c6 sales, v8 mustang/camaro sales and pretty much all other cars in the sporty/low end sports car segment........... and yeah their numbers beg to differ.

I hope nissan has an ace up its sleeve.......
You have no idea what you're talking about. 350Z's sales the last 2-3 years of its life was about the same as the 370Z's. Sales began to decrease for the 350Z considerably after 2004. Nissan does not manufacture a lot of the cars to begin with anymore.
Mustangs and Camaros sell more because they can be had for low 20s in their base versions and offer 4-people capacity, with huge trunks. And Corvettes are often found left behind on lots heavily discounted towards the year end when the new model year arrives, on top of that are purchased by a demographic that is entirely different than that of the 370Zs (older people, pensioners, people with a lot more money, etc).
370Zs have gone from mass volume to built-per-order. Nissan makes what dealers and customers request. Where as in the past, dealers stocked tons of 350Zs, that simply isn't the same for the 370Z.
