Nope. No breakdown by model, color, coupe/roadster. The closest thing Nissan has ever published is stuff like the intent to sell 1000 40th anniversary models.

Kind of an old post, but I don't believe that. Look at the numbers the Mustang and Camaro pulled. The Camaro came out around the same time as the 370Z, and sold better. Chevy sold 9000 Camaros in May 2010 alone...and they sold a lot more when the car debuted in 2009. I don't necessarily believe it's the economy; while I've grown to like the look of the car, a lot of people still think it's very odd and polarizing. On top of being too damn expensive if you get Touring. Those two factors are hurting sales, if you ask me.

Furthermore, Chevy has already built over 100,000 Camaros. Nissan hasn't even approached 30k. Both cars are priced very close to each other.

Camaro = "new" car. Very popular with the muscle car base.

Mustang = it was predicted to sell 250K the first year of the redesigned model. It only sold about 200K though.

You're trying to compare apples to oranges. The domestic market for mass produced muscle cars has always been orders of magnitude larger than the import market for sports cars.

You have a good point. But the 370Z is also a new car, albeit it didn't have quite the same amount of hype and anticipation behind it - since there wasn't an 8 year gap between releases. Still, 370Z sales are behind 350Z sales considerably and I think there are a lot of factors behind that besides the economy.

Just a personal observation.

Also take into consideration the 370z, although new, was not as big a step as the Camaro. Many Camaro owners bought new ones, but I would imagine that number (percentage-wise) is much lower for the 350z-370z upgrade becasue of the moderate (but highly effective) changes.

i know this tread is kind of old, but i figure bringing back a 2 month old thread is better than starting a new one.

so i've been searching and while i can find total production numbers, i cannot find production numbers by color. i'm just interested in seeing how many 08 nogaro red z's were made......cant be too many considering between all colors there were only a little over 10,000

Same, so for "every brother's mother's" car, Z is still pretty uncommon on the roads.

As stated many times on the forum - there is no color breakdown. Nissan doesn't publish that.

Good news/bad news...

So far this year, the sales of the Z are down -22% over 2009 sales. While it sounds bad, it could be a lot worse. I ran across this article by Forbes magazine...

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...t-selling-cars

In this economy, nobody really needs a sports car. Thus, the sports car segment is suffering. The Mazda RX-8 is down 50% from a year ago, and the Porsche Cayman is down 31%.
Those two models were in the Forbes Top 10 List of Worse Selling Cars. The RX-8 is already coming to an end after 2011 model year. Sales early in 2010 were averaging less than 100 per month.

Now for the possible bad news... sales of the Z may break 10,000 for this year. There is concern that if they drop much below that amount that Nissan might consider dropping the Z from the lineup again. The only bright spot is that the Z and G are connected by some percentage of shared parts and their positive sales can help keep the Z afloat. In 2010, G37s have sold over 50,000 already with one more month to go.

GTR sales for 2010 are a measly 839 cars, down from 1415 for the same period on 2009.

I would be interested to see it broken down by model. I have an 03 performance and I know they were only made for 2 or three years.
