Default What do you all do for hail storms?

I've seen what hail storms can do to cars and the dimples, pockmarks, and paint chipping aren't pretty so I wonder for those here who don't have garages, what do you do when there's an impending hail storm?

For me, I have a car cover but that won't help with hail but thankfully, there is an office building with a parking garage right near me so if I get wind of hail, my Z is getting driven over to that garage for overnight storage.

Only ran into that one time, pulled into a gas station under the cover till it was over. No dings or chips thank gawd! Other than that I'm screwed there isn't anywhere nearby for me to put the car at night with a roof to protect it

If moving is out of the question ... I'd get a handful of mover's blankets. You know those padded quilts that movers use to protect your furniture when moving and set them on top of the car hanging over to protect the sides. I'd double up on the top - hood, roof, and hatch - and then put the car cover on top.

In my garage I'm always coming in and out with tools and stuff so when the Z is under the car cover I put moving blankets on the hood and hatch to protect it from bumps.

Anyways I'd do what Paul said or even use any sort of padding you can come across, or you could go buy a cover-all tent.

Sit back and collect the Insurance money. You can keep it if you can stand the dents, or do what I did, have the car fixed and get a premium paint job that will be better than most stock finishes!

My Z is a garage queen. If the forcast calls for rain I drive the other car. The Z has never seen rain water the past 2 years.

About 3 years ago we had golf size hail in my Area. I know a guy that has a Paintless Dent Removal shop and he actually moved his car outside of his garage into the hail. He collected the insurance check for all the dents and removed the dents himself.

He's one of the few people that pray for hail storms. He get's a lot of business when they happen.

Ofcourse, just like you can collect if a branch falls on a your car from a storm. Obviously most people would use the money to fix the damage.

I don't do anything for hail; it happens on its own.
