Another aspect that makes a difference to the cost of a vehicle is obviously the cost of the freight to it's place/country of destination. As there is a plant in the USA you are paying less freight, where as someone in New Zealand or Australia is paying for their Z to be shipped down from Japan. DavidV makes very valid points also.

I suspected Z in Singapore must be exhorbitant, so I did some research and only found the '03 pricing (Nissan SG site is down). Check this out:
According to http://www.aas.com.sg/features/archive/f06031.htm
The Nissan 350Z automatic is currently priced at $154,100 (on the road with COE), which makes it an enticingly mouth watering proposition amongst sports/GT coupe offerings as no other rival of similar price offers as much on a performance per dollar spent basis.
S$154,100 = US$100,489.00

The Government adds on to the price of new cars around 30% - 40% VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) to Cars over 2,401cc.

It would be in both countries best interest if the US remained on top. If the US goes down they will as well.

Canada is not without it's pluses, but cheap cars ain't one of them. My buddy saved about $7,500 CDN buying a 2006 WRX Sti from the US, rather than local.
Even the used car market is nuts. I plan on buying a P-car sometime soon and will be saving thousands by importing from the US.

See here:
European tax rates
For example:
Czech Republic - 1,120,000 Kc includes 19% VAT. So without taxes, the price is 941,176 Kc or US$43,712
Similar for Ireland, where tax is 21%:
57,450 Euros - 21% = 47,479 Euros or US$62,517 - still the highest base price!
North American pricing gives you true value of service or goods without taxes since we are so sensitive to the intrusive state government and taxation. In European more socialist systems, the taxes are part of the costs. This is a separate discussion, but in Europe people will tell you how much they earn after taxes and prices in stores include tax, so you can easily calculate what you can buy. In North America, people quote their gross salaries and quote prices without taxes, which makes it much more difficult to compare one person's spending power to another's.
