Kind of ironic that all the Canadiens battling cancer and other diseases don't want the US to go to a universal health care either. If that happens they can't cross the border to get help.

Another aspect that makes a difference to the cost of a vehicle is obviously the cost of the freight to it's place/country of destination. As there is a plant in the USA you are paying less freight, where as someone in New Zealand or Australia is paying for their Z to be shipped down from Japan. DavidV makes very valid points also.

All 350Zs are made in Japan. As for shipping, its a lot more cost effective to ship 500 350Zs to the same location than to ship 50. 10 less round trips.

Anyone want an 06 Z with 6K? I'll let it go for a mere 45K. And even throw in a case of oil LOL....

I suspected Z in Singapore must be exhorbitant, so I did some research and only found the '03 pricing (Nissan SG site is down). Check this out:

According to http://www.aas.com.sg/features/archive/f06031.htm

The Nissan 350Z automatic is currently priced at $154,100 (on the road with COE), which makes it an enticingly mouth watering proposition amongst sports/GT coupe offerings as no other rival of similar price offers as much on a performance per dollar spent basis.

S$154,100 = US$100,489.00

Agreed, that's basic maths.

I have a irish friend that's coming back to the US and he said his father got a porsche boxster over an Z because it was cheaper .
Yea that's true, I've only seen one. I don't mind at all really as its obviously pretty unique and I'm in love it after my boring Audi TT 180

Oh and a new top spec Porsche Boxer 3.2 TIPTRONIC S here is:
€90,400 ($118,400)
The Government adds on to the price of new cars around 30% - 40% VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) to Cars over 2,401cc.

Simple, the US buys the most 350Zs.

That blows man , it's definitely a no brainer to buy used. As a matter of fact I think my friends father bought the porsche used.

And they're the least regulated tax/fees wise.

You might want to check out Mexico and Canada's Export/Import partners list.
It would be in both countries best interest if the US remained on top. If the US goes down they will as well.

Mexico's Exports - partners: US 85.7%, Canada 2%, Spain 1.4% (2005)
Mexico's Imports - partners: US 53.4%, China 8%, Japan 5.9% (2005)

https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications...k/geos/mx.html

Canada's Exports - partners: US 84.2%, Japan 2.1%, UK 1.8% (2005)
Canada's Imports - partners: US 56.7%, China 7.8%, Mexico 3.8% (2005)

Canada is not without it's pluses, but cheap cars ain't one of them. My buddy saved about $7,500 CDN buying a 2006 WRX Sti from the US, rather than local.

Even the used car market is nuts. I plan on buying a P-car sometime soon and will be saving thousands by importing from the US.

This is not true. Almost all countries outside of North America include taxes (VAT) in their prices. This is why most people lament that European prices are so much higher, but fail to take into account VAT, which can be up to 20%. The prices are still higher as people mentioned due to import levies.

See here:
European tax rates

For example:
Czech Republic - 1,120,000 Kc includes 19% VAT. So without taxes, the price is 941,176 Kc or US$43,712

Similar for Ireland, where tax is 21%:
57,450 Euros - 21% = 47,479 Euros or US$62,517 - still the highest base price!

North American pricing gives you true value of service or goods without taxes since we are so sensitive to the intrusive state government and taxation. In European more socialist systems, the taxes are part of the costs. This is a separate discussion, but in Europe people will tell you how much they earn after taxes and prices in stores include tax, so you can easily calculate what you can buy. In North America, people quote their gross salaries and quote prices without taxes, which makes it much more difficult to compare one person's spending power to another's.

Great find Dutch! I wonder what the depreciation rate is like in other countries, and if its proportional across the board?
