The above link will take you to a page where you can find a variety of cars' gas mileages comparing the old standard to the new. For instance, the 03 Z's combined city/highway MPG drops from the old standard of 22 to 20. Interesting stuff.
Not sure but they're getting more strict on what car makers can advertise about their MPG. Most or if not all cars in the past have posted inflated numbers to sell cars. Big surprise.
I think the old numbers are more accurate. Driving around town, I get around 19mpg, and on the highway around 26-27. Split between the two I'll get 22. The new numbers are off.
Sometimes I wonder if the meter on the gauge cluster is right or not. One time I was drive 85mph with cruise on and reset it and it read 32. Unbelieveable!
I get about 22.6 mpg in ATL city driving and about 28.7 mpg on highway. That is when my foot is not all in it. I also use the old method of gallons used/miles drove.
The EPA changed it's standards across the board for how they measure those ratings. The old standards I guess excluded a lot of things that are in cars today.
