Ok, I'm so bored that I went out looking at Vettes. What the heck, might as well check them out and drive them. Well, didn't get a chance to drive one since all they had were automatics (the horror!), but I did notice something:
Roughly 100% of the Corvette exterior body panels are some combination of plastic and fiberglass. "Tap tap, dunk dunk". Yes, I know this is somewhat common knowledge but I was still rather surprised how much is plastic and how crappy it was. Fiero.
Has anybody knocked on a Z? Are the body panels metal? Plastic? Fiberglass?

Basically everything behind, in front of, or below the cut lines. I.E., the cut line thats staggered at the bottom of the door, and runs up the back. And the front bumper. Not to bad at all. Plus the hood is aluminum which is kinda cool.

roughly 99% of the interior of the corvette is plastic also. I was not able to test drive a vette, but after sitting in it I'm not sure it could be fast enough to get me to drop the Z. The head room was not great either. I had more room in my little Z3 than in the vette.
I have never seen the 350Z in person, but there is no way its interior will be as cheap looking as the corvette.

Come on guys... let's give the Corvette it's due rewards. I only wish that the Z was made of fiberglass ... weight being the issue. Rust in the early Z's was terrible. I can only assume that the entire auto industry has for the most part fixed the problems of cars rusting after only 3 yrs. As far as fast, we all know that a stock Vette, whether we like it or not, is going to outrun our Z's. Let's just get over that part. Now once NISMO gets their hands on our Z's, that's another story. Just my opinion.

Sure, the Corvette is fast, and handles quite well, but the interior is down right ugly, I can see similarities (and in some cases, the same part!) as my mom's 1998 Tahoe.

Hey!!!!
Don't diss on Caddies
I drove a mid 90's Eldo in High School after i sold my GN, they can be pretty quick... but with 2K in Mods anything can be quick though... I had the Only Cadillac in Oklahoma with Dual Flowmasters on it..hehe. My old eldo dynoed 32HP and 41lbs torque over stock.. which puts my old Caddy around 327HP and 341lbs torque.. even though it did weigh in around 4K it would scare many an import and give LT1 cars a run for their money.. now LS1's are a different breed. It was the ultimate sleeper... except when i added the Delta Flows then it rumbled like a tank.. NorthStar V8 Roaring at 7K through Flows scared many an import. Would fly like a bat outta hell after 50... Miss that car
.. It would actually go faster then 150..hehe, just afraid even with Z Rated Tires that they would blow out.
List of mods... K/N Intake with aftermarket CAI/Flowmaster Exhaust/ Super Chip Engine-Tranny Chip(saw amazing power increase.. caddy kinda toned down the ECU programing)/ MagnaCor Wires/hot Coils/ Larger Bore MAF/ NGK Plugs/ Eibach Springs-bump stops/ STS 17's..
Long Live "the Caddy on Acid" *Nickname my friends gave that car when they all rode in it.

I'm not knocking its performance. But the exterior, while nicely styled, is a little too Tyco for my tastes. And the interior SUCK *** for a $40k car.
