So I was getting ready to wash the Z on Saturday, and needed to back it up, closer to the garage, to vacuum it out. Left the door open, and this is what happened, when I couldn't stop the car in time. Pics were taken by my Geico claims adjuster. Damage was estimated at $2400.

probably ~5 mph Didn't touch the gas, since I was only moving about 1 car-length, up the driveway.

felt like the clutch got stuck, couldn't get out of gear, so I grabbed the e-brake, but that didn't stop the car, for some reason.

 

wow that's a first for me....never actually seen someone do it though. Sorry to hear it man....I've a number of close dumb calls too

 

I was parked near the end of the driveway, cause I was gonna wash the Z. Decided, I wanted to vacuum it out first, so I backed it up, closer to the garage. Left my door open, so I can see where I was backing, since I had stuff layed out already. Tried to stop, but couldn't get out of gear, clutch seemed to stick, so I grabbed the e-brake, since I was looking at the gear shift, so grabbed it first, instead of stepping on the brake. Car didn't stop, so I ended up in the garage.

Clutch down -> brake down! Was the engine on or were you just trying to roll it?

 

Engine was on. I think I probably could have saved the car if I stepped on the brake pedal. Only reason I can think of, why I'd grab the e-brake first, was cause I was looking down at the gearshift, and saw it. Probably not the brightest move.

 

Good thing you didn't have your leg hanging out the door.

Wow man...that really sucks. Reminds me of that scene in Tommy Boy ...that was definitely funnier though.

 

Your heart must of stopped for a few seconds...at least mine would of from shock.

 

now I don't feel so bad about scratching my mirror housing the other day pulling out of my garage, 1 dab of B17 touch-up paint and you can't even tell.

 

a simple WOW is all that is needed here

 

Thanks, I talked to the body shop, they said it'll take about 2 weeks. In the mean time, I've been reduced to a GOV car. Those Dodge Stratus's that you see recruiters driving around in... But, at least I'm not walking...
