I have swirls on my black Z which in a couple months it will be gone because I am getting it buffed but man, I have never had a black car , I can not belive how much work it is to keep it looking good, anyone else feel the same?
its probably the coolest color and the crappiest color at the same time. I can wash my car and in 5 min. its dirty again. Even had swirls from the get-go. My next car will be silver or blue. wont have another black till I can afford another daily driver.
ohhh..tell me about it. I don't live in a neighborhood because we own a good amount of land, so half of my driveway is gravel. It's impossible to keep my baby clean.
if your car is new, don't wash it in a circular motion - run the sponge/chamois along the lines of your Z, in a straight pattern. After over two years, my paint still has very little swirl marks, just some marks that run a long the lines of the Z. Don't use those damn sponge to wash your car, use chamoisl!!!
I've always had black cars. It's not that bad if your good at detailing.
And don't drive them. When I drive to work I pick up all the pollen on the street. If I manage to not get bird poo on it I'm hit ten times with their pee. I won't even mention water - city water from the curbs, over spray or drift from sprinklers, and rain all leave marks.
Black is the ugliest color if not maintained... but damn, nothing beats a black Z after it's been washed/waxed. Those short 5 min. of beautifulness are worth the next week of ugliness :-P. Especially in Florida, where it rains uhm... all the time.
That being said, I will always have a black car in my garage.
