1200 miles....now what?
We all get screwed by the big oil tycoons anyways, so why not?! Think about it...there's nothing wrong with changing the fully syn oil out after 3k miles...just costs more...that's it. It doesn't harm anything and like many have posted, it can only make your engine smile & say thank you. Also, think about it again...the car manufacturers telling everyone "not" to change their oil but for every 5k to even 8k miles???? Yeah, cause they don't have anything to gain by peoples engines wearing out a little faster do they (just have to buy a new car)???
To change early or not to change early...Big whoopin' deal. I change mine every 3k with Royal Purple. I could probably change it even sooner. Point is, just take as good care of what you own as possible and you'll probably enjoy longer if not enjoy it more. The oil tycoons are still gonna get there money...;-)

Fazzzzy; not looking to pick a fight here, but if you are so concerned about big oil profits and raping the planet, etc, etc, why didn't you buy a hybrid??
Frankly, I don't give a damn about my MPG, emissions, or frequency of oil changes--I bought this car because it has enormous potential, is an absoloute kick in the *** to drive, and has major modification potential.
I invested a fair amount of $$ to buy this car and still FIRMLY believe that frequent fluid swaps will prolong the life of my car and, over the long haul, improve its performance and resale value. No disrespect.

anyone who told you your dumb for changing your oil every 1000 miles is a idiot that is the best insurance u can have on it being reliable i totally agree its the little things you do to benefit in teh long run
