Default Factory Service Manual Cost

Does anyone know the dealer cost for this manual on CDs? I have read elsewhere on other threads that dealer cost may be around $60. My dealer parts guy called the Nissan source for this and they said his cost would be $185. What's going on here? Perhaps someone with such a manual can get a part number off it so I can converse intelligently with the dealer. How much have people paid for these?

I know everyone seems to be very pleased with it so I want to get it but not at a rip-off price!

Default Service manuals are expensive...

They are available from Nissan on CDROM and in hard copy. The CD is cheaper. $185 seems about right for the CD. The hard copy is more.

You can buy either version (hardcopy or CD) directly from Nissan North America. The site has been changed significantly, and it now looks like you can buy a subscription to view the documents online as well as purchasing them outright.

CD Version:

Hardcopy:
http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissa...id=43&mscssid=

What bugs me is that they don't offer both for $320 or thereabouts. It seems like if you buy the hardcopy, then you should be able to get the CD for only a little bit more, since you already have all the proprietary data. It's just a couple CD's that you are getting.

Either way, enjoy!

Default RIPOFF

I was looking into getting the manual as well a couple of months ago. I read somewhere here on the forum (sorry don't remember the exact post) that the cost is only $60 for the cd version. The dealer is giving you what sounds like a retail price, that is NOT his cost from everything I have read. Do a search and try and find the post I was talking about. I am not sure of the exact cost for the paper version of the manual. Honestly, depending on what you are doing...you probably don;t need a manual. My husband did just a little bit of research here on the forum and a little bit of talking with some members who have already performed stereo installs. He was able to get everything he needed. We have replaced the HU (keeping the Nav voice), fronts and rears, added a sub and 2 amps. It is almost done and I will be posting pics when it is. We took pics along the way. Also, his screen name is tonkadog-feel free to PM him with any installation questions. He will be more than willing to help you out. Hope this helps! Good luck!

The $185.00 is the dealer's cost, plus shipping!

If $185 truly is the cost, I'd say hold off. If it is just a stereo install or working with the Nav system, there is plenty of easily attainable info out there. We have done the install no problem without any manual. In addition, my husband ripped apart virtually the entire car when dynamatting it, it's not really difficult.

Looks like $185 is a good number. I know someone here said they paid $60 and sure would like to know how they managed that.

Anyway, I have always bought a manual for each of my new purchases as a way of researching solutions and determining whether certain work should be done by a dealer, myself, or some other party. I have always considered the possesion of this information as very useful, especially as the car ages, and have never been sorry for the purchase...but $185 is a lot.
