no buyers remorse here. i'm fairly new the the whole Z scene. i just got rid of a scion tc and really dug the Z. i just happened to be in the market in Jan 07. so i had to make a decision. i decided based on my preference of hoods, basically and the ability to get a smokin deal for a car that is not all that different. i knew about the different engine, but ultimately, it's not a huge deal to me. i think the 06 engine, especially coming from a scion tc 4-banger, is plenty powerful for me.

Just make sure you check your oil regularly. A good number of the 06 models have a known oil consumption problem. Some are having a quart consumed every 700 miles.

The hood's not that big of a deal. I, personally, prefer it to the two creases of older models. It's smoother. From a side-view, you'd have to be looking right at it to notice it's raised a bit. From the front, it's cool--IMHO. The silver/grey one's look like a rhino!

The '07 hood in person is not that bad if you squint your eyes until the car is not focused and you go to an angle where there is no shadow of the hump.

And just because someone doesn't like the look of something, doesn't necessarily mean they are jealous of it. I know this might be hard to believe, but they might just simply not like the look of it.

My plan is to wait and save up money to see what the new generation Z looks like and decide if I should stay in the Nissan family or not in 2009(or whenever the next generation Z comes out).

I went to the dealer to look at them, and I didn't like the new hood at all. Sure they have a newer motor, but once you go FI and build then all that goes out the door and it just comes down to how much money you can spend. I'll take my 03-06 hood, thank you.

I dont like the new hood either. Only regret to buying my 06' is not having that new HR. But, Im sure someday a swap would be possible. Other than that, Ive heard the 07's interior is a little bit better. My 06' has a few annoying rattles that need to be taken care of. Rear view mirror rattles, left and right door panels have a rattles near the handles, steering wheel has a rattle coming from the airbag area. There is one more rattle near the gauge cluster and I think one coming from around the shifter area, but this might be due to having to remove it to install my Nismo shift ****.

Seen the hood in person. Dislike it even more than I do in pictures, no matter what color it is.

Those who bought the '07 (early '08 model by the time it really came out), can justify it any way that you'd like.

Fact is, Nissan's design team screwed up. Even having to make more room to accomodate the new engine, I would say that most of us, could have come up with a much better design. One that made the profile even better than the now '03 to '06's design.

The fact that there's still this discussion, says that the vast majority feel the new hood does not do the Z justice. New engine or no new engine. Not to mention the no info, no pricing, no updated web site, and the biggie . . . NO CAR , until into January. Some dealers still don't have the car. Nissan didn't just drop the ball on the hood design, but all the way around. They don't even feature it in commercials. But you can get a "snappy" new Altima, with all of the hi-tech features. Or, step up to the G35, on the same Z platform, hp, etc.

But, I'm happy for all that LOVE that new hood.

3 pages about a hump in the hood? Are you serious? It's a hood! I've seen it at the dealer and didn't notice it enough to imagine people making an issue over it. Talk about ****. LOL!

If you didn't notice it then consider yourself lucky. Most Z enthusiasts will notice the curves on the Z as it was a gracefully styled vehicle. This isn't an EVO or STi where we could justify the reason for the way it is styled. We recognize that our cars aren't as fast as those but we always looked prettier from any angle. That was the only thing we had going for us against the ugly competetion..

I initially thought it would grow on me...but its not. The side profile looks horrendous. I honestly don't notice it as much from the front. The engine rocks though and is enough for me to justify the purchase, but that doesn't mean I'm a fan of the hood. I'd have to get black to be truly happy...
