Question Help decide...06 GT or 07 Touring?

What would you do if you have to choose between an 06 Grand Touring Silverstone Gray w/ nav and the usual GT package. Or an 07 Touring PPW? Both with burnt orange leather seats. Both i can drive home for about 31k? The only other thing is, if i get the 06 GT i'll have to say goodbye to my '94 Accord daily driver as a trade in. With the '07 Touring, i get to hold on to my old reliable daily driver which i've owned since it was brand new.

Any thoughts anyone?

If they are both for the same price, plus with the newer z you get to keep another car? I mean the GTs are "notch," but I'd prefer an 07 Touring vs. a used GT anyday...but I don't really know...after all, I have a Base model.

Why would you have to get rid of the accord with the 06? I'd check into insurance costs. Being the GT, it prolly has more safety features...airbags mainly...that may cause the insurance to be a little lower and you could keep the accord if thats where the problem is. I really don't think the 6 extra hp in the 07 can be reasonably felt or noticed if thats whats stoppin you from getting the 06. Plus, you get lighter wheels with the GT. What i'm trying to say is...power should not differ, only color and insurance prices (due to safety options on the GT).

Does this help?

coming from an 06 owner

and it's not "just" 6 hp, it's 6 hp on the new hp scale which is around 20 on the older scale

Ya'll are gonna have to enlighten me on this new hp scale. Being an engineer and all....horsepower is the same anywhere in the world. Just like 1hp=1hp and 6hp=6hp, but 6hp doesn't = 20hp. I don't believe that dyno's would be variable, they should all measure based on some constant.

If 6hp on an 07 equals 20hp on an 06. Then get the 07 cuz its got 1,000 hp. Thats a steal for $31K.

yes it helps, thank you. But the reason why i'd have to give up the accord is it came with the deal. The 06 GT dealer was at least decent enough to give me a reasonable value for my old lady. The GT was priced a little bit more and i'm dealing with two different dealers. The deal with the 07 wouldn't make a diiference if I through my accord in there. They wanted my old babe for nothing.

I gotcha, but also consider....keeping the accord is an extra bill in the long run, and gettin rid of it prevents you from getting the multi-car discount on your insurance. I kinda wish i had a clunker to drive to work though cuz my 06 now has 25K miles and only 1yr. 4mos. old.

The SAE changed the proceedure for testing horsepower. If you put both cars on a chassis dyno, the 07's will have roughly 20 more hp.

Which pretty much leads me to my answer. 07 all the way, and i own an 06. Not only do you get more hp on paper (and on the dyno) you also get a lot more low end torque AND 500 more RPM's to play with. I really wish i had that engine.....but i can't be too mad i do own a kick *** car in its own right.

It really depends. When you walk down the street do you want people to call you "the guy with the hump on his hood?". Just think about it.

http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/details.htm

Just a small example.

They changed the new way that SAE determins the rating. With the new rating the 07 is shown at 306hp... the 06 on the old SAE rating was at 300 right? Well on the new rating the 06 would be around 280.

So in reality on the old rating the 07 would be rated around 315-320hp. PLUS more low end torque and 500rpm higher redline if you ahve a 05-06 and 700? if you have a 03-04-05(non rev-up).

Plus the 07 has bluetooth and more cool little features.

"SAE J1349 JUN 1995 = OLD
SAE J1349 AUG 2004 = NEW
SAE J2723 = certified = "voluntary" and based on top of J1349"

from maxima forums.
