People who crash Z's....

there are accidents where there's really nothing you can do. until 2 weeks ago i'd never been involved in an accident where i was at fault (2 where i was already stopped at a stoplight and rear ended, and another where some guy tried to go in between me and the car directly next to me). i drive careful and dont go crazy, especially in the snow. so it's really not fair to say that it's just us *******s who drive up your insurance...and before someone says that i shouldnt have been driving it in that weather, i was trying to get the car home from a friends house before it started snowing harder.

Don't drive in snow without studded snow tires and some extra weight? If you can't afford that, or to buy a 4wd or fwd winter beater, well, you shouldn't have bought the Z.

Calling something an "accident" is attempting to absolve yourself of any responsibility.

This still gets a +1.
I hate when people complain about something that is out of their hands, like insurance rates, there are more Z's on the road, because the model has been made since 2003. Hence, there are more new Z's and used Z's out there, and the cheaper the price, the younger the driver that can afford it....which leads to more accidents.

It seems you slammed on the brakes, had the steering at an extreme angle from panic. Then you shifted everything you were doing by applying gas to kick out the tail and changed the steering angle. Pretty much you did everything wrong. And you're asking what you could have done better?
Don't slam on the brakes, keep a steady bit of gas applied. Don't hit the gas to "overcome the oversteer". Don't have the steering at an extreme angle. If you start losing control, calm down... just be steady, point where you want to go, and have a bit of gas applied. Things will work out.
So... yes. This accident was 100 percent your fault.

i don't know why people keep complaining bout insurance costs. I'm 23 and paying $75/month for full coverage with State Farm. Maybe that is because I been driving for 7 years w/o a single ticket or accident on my record so, if you have a clean record your rates will be lower.

and for those who were saying you shouldnt have a z unless you can afford something else for the winter what should i do? not buy the car that i want because occasionally i might get caught in snow? plus i stated that i was trying to get the car home out of the snow because it wasnt supposed to snow for another 7 hours and i had planned on it being in the garage before it started, so i dont routinely drive in the snow.
i think once you guys who are so high and mighty will feel pretty ****ty when you find yourself in a situation you cant help and you crash. plus a 5mph collision on a hill on an ice sheet leaves you with not a whole lot you can do. dont say it was my fault unless you were there because making assumptions like "slamming on the brakes" is bull**** because you dont know that i slammed on them. saying that the steering must've been at an extreme angle is also bull**** because again, how the **** do you know? **** happens and beleive it or not not all incidents are preventable.

"the abs started going crazy, i tried letting off the brakes to regain some steering, i tried letting up the steering to a less extreme angle to try and get traction,"
The ABS doesn't "go crazy" without your foot firmly planted on the brake. And you were the one mentioning the extreme angle of the wheel. The oversteer attempt was pretty ridiculous.

Not ALL Incidents are preventable, but most are. And yours was. Instead, though, you choose to blame the ice rather than think what YOU could have done differently.
