I know from experience (sold my z to a member here) that you have to pay a fee to have the extended warranty transferred. Before i sold the car, i checked with my nissan dealer and they said there was no charge to transfer to another owner. I felt bad because the member that bought my car, went into nissan, and they said it hadn't been transferred b/c i didn't do the paper work. Of course i didn't get the name of the idiot at my nissan dealer that told me I didn't have to pay or fill out any paper work. LUckily i paid the transfer cost and even though it was a month overdue no one at nissan usa noticed or cared. He got his warranty. If your buying private party make sure the seller pays the transfer fee and fills out the paper work or you will be denied the extended warranty from your local nissan dealer.
