Question 03 vs later models?

Well I'm new to this forum, been looking at gettin a 350z. I have read up about it. I've read of some small problems with the 03's and some 04's with tire wear and suspension. Is it worth spending around 23,000 for a used 03, or spend an extra 10,000 to try and get a later model? Canadian that is. What are your opinions? I just dont wanna buy an 03 and have a bunch of problems with it. I know with anything, the first thing you builld isn't gonna be as great as the newest one. I know with the 05/06's nissan has probably bleed out most of the small problems, or little things to make it a better car.

If you buy a 2003, you should have the 5 year 60K drive train warranty. Buy from an authorized Nissan dealer, and get that promise (5 year 60K drive train warranty) in writing. If they won’t do that, don’t buy the car.

As per the user warranty booklet

This warranty is generally transferable from the original
‘owner other than a Nissan dealer’ (OWNER) to subsequent
owners of the vehicle at any time ownership of the
vehicle is transferred, without any action on your part;
except that this warranty is not transferable but is instead
void if during the first six months after delivery to the
original OWNER: (1) ownership of the vehicle is transferred
from the original OWNER, and (2) the vehicle is
registered outside of the United States.

I'd go for an 04. My 03 has been without issues other than minor feathering but I've seen enough stories on 03 problems to avoid if I was buying used.

Whatever year, have it checked out by mechanic before writing a check.........

My first Z was an '04 Touring. I totally loved that car, but it did have tire feathering issues. I had to put new tires on it after 24k miles... The only way to fix it was to buy a front camber kit and a rear camber/toe kit. Which ain't cheap... I recently sold it and got a newer Z. My '06 Z just hit 1200 miles the other day, so now it's time to have some fun with it~ :-)

I bought a 03 here about 5 months ago. Outside of having to put in another engine (friend driving, ATI Procharger, hard lesson to learn) and transmission (tranny under warranty) she's been really good to me!

I own an 03 with no problems. Just do a thorough check of it. If it's an 03 and it has uneven wear on the tires don't buy it.

I have an 03' track, and was hesitant to buy because of notorious problems. So far.......no problems, no regrets. Not to say any 03' would follow suit, but mine has been great. I would follow the advice of other poster's and get the car checked by a mechanic. That goes for any year you purchase. I'll take my babied 03' with 15k miles over an 05' thats got high miles and was put away wet.

That's the price you pay when you have a "cool" [6MT] 350Z.

If it has low miles... why not... get it checked by the mechanic... or just get the gold 100K warranty so if anything happens... you got the extended warranty that covers everything pretty much..

Thanks for all the input guys. Gonna keep searching around and hopefully be able to pick one up in a couple months, depending on my money situation.
