Probably just wind whistling over/through something. My WRX used to do the same thing at certain speeds wind would whistle between the side mirror.

 

never went 130+..i don't think i would ever go that fast unless i wanted to wreck my car..

 

your driving skills would allow you to wreck ur car going 130 in a straight line with nothing infront of you?

78-85ish I have a whistling noise in 6th gear. Its aggravating but the dealerships around me won't touch it cause the speed limits are 70. Warranty to me ain't worth it.

 

Ive gotten mine upto 147 (according to the digital speedo) and the only sound my car was making was the normal roar of the engine. no whines or beeps of any kind.

 

Thought I heard a sound like that once, but realized I just farted...I was on the race track though

 

i had this problem too...prolly just the intake or air flowing over something thats a little less than aerodynamic..no biggy...regardless I'm never going over 120 again until i get a spoiler of some kind in the back....rear end feels a little too light at those speeds...

 

Funny he brings this up. I was wondering what that noise was to. I live in NY and its been pretty cold out here. In the morning when I first start my car when its dead cold, I sit for about 2-3 minutes letting the car warm up. I take off and that howling/whistling starts everytime I give it gas. I let off the gas and the noise goes away. No sooner then the car being warmed up (my climate control turns on automatically once the car is warm) the noise goes away.

I have a 2007 350z. Every time I hit above 100 miles an hour, it makes that DAMN Noise!!!!! My 03 and 05 never once made that stupid noise. Its pissing me off bad. Dealership wont touch mine either. I am going to call corporate and see what they tell me.

 

damn, it even happens in an 07? let us know what corporate says.

i was coming down I-45 from arkansas and i was ridiculously bored....so i decided to see what my Z could do. I hit 149mph and that thing felt great. of course there weren't any cars for as far as the eyes could see. But as for the whistling, im pretty sure my exhaust was too loud.....and i was too busy concentrating on going ...uh...149 to hear a whistling sorry : )

Hate to tell you but by the time your friends with M3's and M5's and the "INSANE" evo reach 150 you wouldnt hear that wistle or whine anyway for you would only be going about 100.

 

I have heard this same noise before-when i first got my Z i took it to a
safe backroad and went 144 the first month i had the car. the noise
started at about 120 and got louder the faster i went- i have been that
fast many times and noticed after the first 3-6 months the noise went
away. The noise was so loud i was worried something was wrong-it sounded
like a dying banshee or about 3 times louder than a vacuum cleaner.
at that time all i had was a popcharger

 

haha u'd be surprised, im always right infront of my friends e36 m3 and my other friends m coupe all the way up to the speed limiter. As for the m5 and evo... well thats a completely different story. my other friends e46 m3 is just barely infront of me.. as much as i love the e46 m3 i have to say, its just barely faster than my z in every gear .

Wow that EVO must be very... "INSANE." Typically the Z has more umph up top than the EVO's. I guess they make big power cheaply though.

Try shredding a tire at that speed. Sh*t happens, but I guess you only live once... It's up to you for how long.

 

Or smacking a deer at 130mph plus. Ouch. Would not be good.
I have had my car way up there a couple of times but I wouldn't suggest making a habit out of it.
