My car does this too. It does it exactly when it hits 80mph and the revs are at 3,000. I'm not sure when it goes away though. Haven't tried other gears either.

my 06 mazda3 whistled at above 75mph(high pitch sound coming out from the center dash vent). Sold the car with only 3k miles.
My 03 z makes no whistling noise whatsoever.
