According Xa CAR dated September 2002...
1. Nissan is, of course, looking at future engines for the Z.
2. V8 -- looked at... but decided it was too heavy and would disrupt the F/R weight ratio.
3. Turbo.. current 3.5 -- no .... size and other considerations ....
4. Twin Turbo.. VQ30 DETT (a la GTR-34... set for extinction this month).. -- hmmmmm
5. This is not new info... but further confirmation/speculation...
NOTE... possible introduction year was given at 2004.... available now -- but a possible way to up the ante... as the competition grows stronger ...
I, for one, believe it.... if the Z proves to be as popular as it is supposed to be.

The Skyline GTR-34 uses the RB26DETT, it is an in-line six (2.6 liter obviously), not much like the VQ series of engines.... I am not sure what you meant, I just wanted to clarify for others. The VQ30DETT does exist, but in other applications.

I do believe that the new skyline does have the new VQ engine. If im not misstaken(i saw it in a Magazine) Skyline in Japan is the G35. Skyline GTR is still what it was(in looks) so possibly they will be making the new Skyline GTR (new looks) with the updated engine....(maybe the VQ twin turbo)
Did anyone elso notice that?

So maybe that's what Fairlady was referring to, he is over there. From what I have heard about the engine, it sounds nice with a lot of potential. I would still like to see it in a MAX, but even a Z would nice. I would love to have a turbo to play with.
