How to turn off the windshield wipers permanently
After hitting the windshield wipers (when dry & dusty) for the third time by accident while steering and possibly having permanently scratched the glass , I'm frustrated enough to think about permanently disconnecting the darn connector plug or just pulling the fuse. Can this be done without damaging the wiring/harness/electronics? How?
I know you might be thinking this could be unsafe. What if for example on a perfectly sunny day the car in front goes through a puddle and spalshes my windshield. I don't know. Maybe I could install an auxiliary override switch, in the blank next to the VDC, once I find out which wires to disconnect. I wish Nissan had built a moisture sensor to prevent the wipers from going off when they are dry, or moved the control arm a little farther away from the steering wheel.
I looked in the fuse box but couldn't find a fuse for the wipers, front or rear, and couldn't find a connector in the engine bay either.

I've turned on the wipers in autoX a time or two. I've thought about pulling the fuse, but it looks to be in the fuse panel that is behind the cowling beside the battery. You have to take the battery off, then the plastic pieces around that, then the plastic piece that runs the length of the windshield to get to it. Those parts are held by clips, so it shouldn't be TOO bad, but it was more of a hassle than it was worth to get in there once I started looking at it.
If you have the shop manual, it is the IPDM box (Intelligent Power Distribution Module).
