BP 93 octane whenever possible.

I have a grand cherokee that runs great on just about all gas with the exception of Shell. I get a check engine light and it runs like hell for a while. And no..........I no longer put Shell in the jeep.
My father-in-law also had problems with Shell gas specifically. He had a GMC half ton that wouldn't run worth a damn on Shell either.

Back in DC, I used to hit Hess - out here I hit Arco. If the gas station looks really run down, then I'll avoid it.

Same here - Z gets premium, truck gets 87.
Right answer.

VP 100 octane unless the station is out, then I go with shell and a bottle of Torco accelerator.

Its hard to obtain 93 octance here in Missouri. Only one I can find is 92 at BP. Other than that I use 91 oct. most of the time.

Thanks for the response guys! And of course it's common knowledge that the Z takes premium, that's why I put type/brand there.

Anyway it seems that chevron or one of them top tier ones is what I am going to use then. And does shell make your Z feel sluggish?
Peace!

All gas is not the same.

My family has owned Exxon and Shell stations over the years. With Exxon, our gas came from a refinery owned by Tosco. Under Shell, it came from Motiva Enterprises. Since then we opened up another non-brand name, generic station, but we still purchase fuel from Motiva. Does this mean that our new generic store basically uses Shell gas? Yes and No.

We use the same base fuel, but Shell and all the other large name brand companies add a series of additives to their fuel supplies, something that smaller chains and generic brand stores don't do.

Personally I'm a loyal fan of Exxon's Premium. I don't feel the difference in fuel in the Z anymore, but in previous vehicles, Exxon always seemed to run better than any other brand (including V-power)

I won't even fill up at my own parent's station because I like Exxon fuel so much.

Exclamation

take it or leave it, just my 2 cents bs or not cuz this is just what i heard...my friends' cousins' wife (no, not an urban legend either) works for the biochemical dept. of chevron (a dept. along the lines of chemical testing, etc. forgot the exact name) here in ca. she tests all kinds and brands of gasoline. per my friend he said that chevron's gas w/ techron is one of the cleanest and, believe it or not, arco gas is suppose to be really good. he said shell and 76 were towards the middle/bottom. again, this is for what supposedly is good for your car in terms of burning, etc. but for performance...i believe thats a different story...

I only use C16 in the Z. J/K. I use Shell V-Power 93 octane. My 240sx gets whatever is the cheapest or closest before I run out.

I thought there are some 76 here that offer 100 octance? They charge like 6 bucks a gallon though but I forgot where it was.
