Default Burnout in manual transmission

Anyone sucessifully do one yet? I can't figure out how to with a manual.. someone told me hold clutch all the way, press gas, release clutch, then brake fast, and continue to gas. I'd like to get a few more opinions before I try anything. Any help?

I don't think you can do a burn out in the Z unless you disconnect something but I am not sure what it is... It's more than just tracktion controll. Why do you want to do a burn out??? Unless you are going to the track and using slicks???

Have you tried this yourself? Only reason I ask is because I did try on my stock tires once and i had a lot of wheel hop.

yeah it would seem on certain surfaces you can get a clean burn.not many tho

but as I saidto you before ricky, I think you need a line lock to do a full stopped burn out. fwd cars have the edge, as they can just apply the parking brake which stops the back tires. in RWD you have to stop the front tires somehow, only way I know is a line lock.

Nah you can use the brakes and work the clutch and gas at the same time. Here is me in my 01 Z28 before I put some mods on it. This is just with a Flowmaster muffler and some ET Streets. Sorry the quality is not so good.. By the way, this was a VERY humid summer night and the car was slow.

Potato Drags

By the way, do your business in second gear and not first.

but to do that, your spinning the tires with brakes applied, Id only reccomend this if you dont like your brakes in addition to your tread.

It isn't like I was jamming the brakes down. Just a light hold on them to get the tires spinning and then you almost don't even have to use them. The tires will spin until they get hot enough to hook and that is all you need. We don't make enough power to do long nasty burnouts. And it isn't needed with any street tire. There are no adverse effects on the rear brakes by doing this once a month. Of course don't do this every stoplight or every day. Your tires will go way before brakes. Besides, your fronts will wear faster on the street anyways.

While your at it, never autocross because it wears parts out faster. Namely, brakes and tires.

but theres useful wear and tear, and useless. useless would be a burnout on street tread.

This has been posted a hundred times... To do a standing burnout, which means holding the brakes at the same time and staying in 1 place, you must pull the fuse which disables the brake lights.. The Z cuts power to the motor due to the drive by wire setup whenever the brakes and gas are hit at the same time.. And yes, I have done this. Also, the Z has plenty of power to do rolling or standing burnouts all the way through 2nd gear...

I dont see the point in doing a standing burnout unless you are trying to heat up some drag radials or slicks. Powerbraking just doesnt have the same "cool factor" as just dumping the clutch and heading down the street sideways. In a safe manner that is.

MaxHax on nitrous.

the second run was faster. I don't understand what you mean. the car went a 12.76 the second go round and the fastest I went was a 12.69 @110 (in that car). by the way that was NOT an SS.
