Smile Please help! Looking to buy 07 Z have qustions

Dear People of the Forum,

Please take a minute to read this and help your future brother "Z owner".
I am currently looking to buy a very cool Black 2007 350z. However I am thinking how reliable it is going to be. Please ease my pain and tell me that it will be super reliable :-)

Thank you!

Future Owner.

You've been around since 2004 and never posted until now? Have you at least been lurking to get an idea what it's like (pros/cons) to own a Z?

narrow down your definition of reliable.

I see your in chicago. If your talking reliable as in winter daily driving you will get varying opinions. If your talking engine/tranny you will have the folks who have never had problems and the ones that have. It's all pretty much a split.

That said "just go buy the dang thing" you know you want to.

You should wait for the 08-09 Z with the 3.7L putting 340hp. Its based on the GTR engine thats coming out. Its not a good idea to get a 1st yr model car.

You're asking about a vehicle that has only been available for about 30 days. How is anyone going to tell you reliable its going to be.

Default Wow. We need some anger managment here :-)

I would like to buy a 07. I know everything about the problems that car had in 03-04. So my questions is really how mechanically reliable is this machine (2007). Will I have to go to a dealership more often that I would like to?

Thank you

The overall car is the same. Biggest change is the new HR engine. Although it's still the VQ, any such changes will need some time to determine how reliable. For example, I'm sure nobody saw the 06 oil consumption problem coming when the revup first came out.

Welcome.

The 2007 has been on the market for only 4 months. Who could possibly access the reliability of the new motor? If your primary concern is reliably, there are better options than a performance sports car.

And for Chicago snow, there are definitely smarter choices.

Problems that concern me: Brakes, Tire Feathering, Oil Consumption, and Window Motor Problems.

Did Nissan fix all of these problems?

Whatever! They certainly have not been available long enough establish any record of "reliability", good, bad, or otherwise.

Thank you
There were several probnlems with the '03-'04 models. They were corrected on the '05s. There appear to be some problems with the '06 (oil consumption), but the conditions with the '06 will not give you any indication os what to expect with the '07.

Short answer: Its a Nissan. Overall, Nissan reliability is well above average.

I'm currently driving my 5th Nissan truck (Hardbody/Frontier) 5 trucks, 20 years, approx 500,000 miles.

Failed to start-0
Left by the side of the road-0
Total days in the shop-1*
Total cost of repairs- $175*

* The de-cel fuel cutoff switch was replaced on my '87 at 90K miles.

I consider that pretty good reliability.

This is a Nissan 350Z.

This is reliable transportation. Any questions?
