I love my red car. I get attention from other drivers, waves and so on sometime, but no particular attention from the cops. I keep it with the flow of traffic and don't drive like an idiot.

It is easy to get going fast in this thing, of course, so especially on the Beltway around Washington, I make sure I'm not going any faster than the traffic around me (which is all going at aroud 10 mph at least higher than the speed limit).

What about insurance rates for a "red" sports car?

Is this also an urban myth.

Yes. Insurance rates are baseed on a number of things including repair costs, frequency of accidents in that type of vehicle, theft rate, and a bunch of other stuff. Color doesn't factor in because red Z's don't have any more accidents than any other color Z, aren't any more expensive to repair than other colors, aren't stolen more than other colors, etc.

my insurance dosnt care what color it is, nor have I goten tickets.... I do get more attention dow at meets since red is the 3rd to last color after yellow and the interlegos. "red sports car".

Seriously I went to the dealer to buy a black or silver Z... but when I saw the RedLine I was shocked and now totally love it! I see silver Z's all the time and im glad I stand out.

one last thing pics to convince u more!

Believe it or not, we shopped around for anything but red partly because we thought we would be gawked at. However, to most people our red Z is just another red car. I really don't think most people know the difference between a red Z and anything else red. I'm glad we bought the redline because I like it. Cops won't mess wit you unless yer speeding.

only been hassled once by a cop b/c he thought i was on my cell phone which is illegal in ny. Other than that, never had a problem. I drive it daily for the most part unless the weather is really questionable or i'm going somewhere muddy or need cargo room of more than a set of golf clubs. My insurance is really low...much lower than i ever thought it would be.

knock on wood, i have had no tickets in 5 months of ownership. I do have a state of the art radar detector, and i generally don't do more than 5-10 over. but lets face it, everyone opens up there car at some point. i have been very lucky.

In terms of head turning ability, nothing turns heads like a red Z. I was so scared to buy a red car since my lexus IS300 is black, my RSX is gray, and my Corvette is gray. I had never had a red car, and i was scared that it would be to feminine. Quite the contrary. I LOVE the red. it is absolutely stunning in the sun. Plus, you dont notice dirt and swirl marks as much.

Yes I do daily drive my Redline Z, 2005 model w/ a little of 30k miles

I have not received any negative attention from law enforcement since purchasing the car. I can see from your profile that you live around the 626 area code, which is notorious for officers punking around modified cars.

I truly believe that as long as you don't drive or look like a punk kid, cops will leave you alone. So leave you backwards NY caps and slick back hair at home kids. Trust me, I used to drive around town in a very modified Acura Integra.. kept getting pulled over.. once I grew out my hair and threw on a shirt and tie, cops stopped pulling me over.

its the honest truth, racial profiling is alive and kicking, if you live in the 626 and look like a typical Asian thug, your going to get pulled over regardless of what your driving. God I'm glad me and a majority of my friends grew out of that stage.

Indeed the 626 area is full of little asian thugs thinking they are bad@ss driving around in their daddy's car. hahaha.

When I still had my 240 I was pulled over numerous times, due to my exhaust, HKS Hi-Power minus the resonator nasty loud.

Never the less I am still excited and cannot wait till I get my redline Z!!!

no probelms for me in my redline but its not a dialy driver. I think the key is not standing out when driving or making maneveuers which really seperate you from other cars that may not be moving as fast as you.

Zero tickets but I don't really speed much or too high over it.

900 mile drive from Houston, TX to St. louis, missouri = hell. I got harassed and trailed by cops for miles and it sucked so bad that I had to do cruise control the entire time, ONE MILE AND HOUR UNDER the speed limit so they couldnt catch me on anything. thats so wrong
