Before the 350Z a Picture Story
That was certainly an impressive amount of work on that Celica. So sad to have that pride and joy smashed like that. I drive in the carpool lane to work everyday, and it sure get's nerve racking when people in the carpool lane slam on the brakes and jump into the slow lane, or when people in the slow lane swerve into the carpool lane without speeding up. I'm sure my time will eventually come, but hopefully not for a couple hundred thousand miles.
Airbags are a funny thing. They only go off if the sensors (which is usually an accelerometer and maybe a force gauge as well) exceed a certain limit. Because of all the deformation at the front of the car, it can be possible for the sensor to not see forces that are high enough to cause the airbag to deploy. I personally believe that if I can walk away from an accident, then the airbag probably should not have gone off. On the other hand, if I'm being carried out on a stretcher, than hopefully the little baggie is limply hanging off the steering wheel. I think airbags are a nice feature, but the seatbelt is what's really important because the airbag can only protect you from certain angles, while the seatbelt protects you in any collision.
I also had two very minor fender benders that occured while I was trying to change lanes (which gets harder and harder since it seems like the "new" way to drive is to close any space as soon as someone signals a lane change) and someone else either pulled out right in front of me or the lane stopped suddenly.
I'm glad to hear that both of you were OK!!

That was taken by a photographer while I was at a SpeedVentures event at Laguna Seca. You can check out the pictures after the laps and purchase any that you like.
I hope to get to a few more track days and add to my collection.
I did just order a digital camera today, so maybe I can start making some of my own soon....
We'll see.

SERIOUSLY WTF is with that? It's been happening more and more. I get near my exit, I need to make a lane change, pop on my signal and the *** pirate next to me who was going 60mph suddenly becomes mario andretti to keep me from changing lanes.
In fact some soccer mom did that to me yesterday morning!
When someone signals to get into my lane, I won't hit my brakes for them but if I'm not accelerating already, I'll coast and let them in. Unless they're trying to exit, in which I'll slow down to give them way (which sometimes seems like I need to mail an invitation to their home, since they get further confused)
Crase Z: I'm 100% for any law that prohibits mobile phone use during driving. Some of us might be able to pull it off without any problems, but i've learned that the majority of morons can't really multitask (like some dolt in front of you on a freeway that keeps tapping his brakes) This also applies to women putting on cosmetics while driving -- they should be pulled over and have their license to drive permanently revoked!

MR. B- I did go to one midnight run but I think it was before the one you attended.
It was fun and i remember buzz media planned it. I really enjoyed going though the LA tunnels at like 80 or 90. The sound of every ones cars was crazy.
Well I took those pics actually in irvine on top of a parking stucture.
Well were you in SC3 by chance? The solara looked really nice and familiar. I used to hang out with them alot at most import events.

Funny... cuz that picture reminded me of a run we did with Team Unizon I believe. I'm not sure if that was from that run but we were near the LBC aquarium on top of a parking garage. I tried to recall a red Celica with black flames, but I don't remember much from that day so I didn't mention it earlier. Anyway, I got rid of the Solara cuz I was all about speed and wanted a real platform to begin on. Only thing is the Z is much slower than my Solara on the high end after all the mods I put in it. Sigh... just gotta start all over again.
This is what is going to make room for the new Daytona Blue track Pack that will be ready for me on May 2.
It's a 93 Prelude sr-v, pretty fun car but i'm sure it can't compare to the Z...I don't think i'll miss it though...
