Just a snippet from that thread:
All in all, I'm very pleased with the decision that I made, especially about the S2000 Vs the 350Z. I love my S2000, it's ALL sports car. The Z isn't, it's mostly fluff in the interior that I didn't want to begin with.
The Z isn't all sports car? I thought the Z was supposed to be lacking in the interior dept... now it's fluff?
Any car will have problems in it's first production year. I was worried about that as well, but someone pointed out to me that the main set of cars that will have these problems are usually the first set (first ones off the lines).
You can see in that thread that the S2000 had these first year problems as well. My Z has a 12000 Vin# and only 1700 miles, but no problems yet.
Personally, I won't be going back to Honda after owning a 97 Accord, but the S is a sharp car.

my experience: purchased '01 toyota MR2...great roadster but found it was flimsy, rattled and had no storage...many cat problems and suspension stuff...the Z is a huge improvement both visually and mechanically...by the way my nissan dealer took in 2 s2000s last week in trade for the Z
the car has a warranty and demanding owners so you shouln't worry about the "bugs'...test drive and you will be converted!

So far I think there is only 2, which is an alignment for the feathering (which is a temp. fix, but I haven't faced the problem yet), and 2) The window streaks.

My personal preference (I do not own a Z yet, still could not make up my mind ) is the Z over the S2000. However, I have specific needs from the sports car and I am not expecting it to be a all-around performer, I already have a daily driver.
My biggest problem with the S is its very low torque. I think from a weight/hp perspective it holds its own very well with many of the other cars; but when it comes to torque, I found it very difficult to manage it. Granted these impressions are only based on a lenghty test drive, but similar test drive also goes for the Z.
At the same time, I found the S' ride more suitable for daily trafic and certainly its shifter is something rave about. The specific model Z I drove also had a great shifter but may be half a notch below of the S'. At the same time, the S' engine sound was unbreable to me, especially at high rpms.
The real downer for me actually has nothing to do with the car, but my car club: they do not allow convertibles to participate in trak days Obvously, I can attend other car clubs' track days, but then I cannot compete with my buddies as usual
I think they are both wonderful machines and we are lucky to have such a selection of cars in the $30s.
Happy motoring to all.
