My 07 350z review... (my 07 versus my 06)

So hopefully by June I finally have an 07, and will see these improvements first hand!

I have not opened this one up at high-RPMs, but drove another 07 previously that I was able to drive up to it's 7500 RPM redline. Yes, that one felt faster across the board. Feels like a larger displacement engine to me. Just because of the increase in torque.
Some people cannot feel the difference, and in the big picture, it's not night-and-day. But enough better that I thought it was worth it. But I also like the added refinement.
The 07 does feel less "raw" than the 06. Not necessarily a good thing. Sports-car lovers may not like it, but it's a perfect Sporty Grand Touring car.
I think I am so sensitive to these things because I used to commute four days per week, two hours each way!!! No joke. I personally logged 160k Miles on that car (97 M3). I am just really in tune with my vehicles. I could feel when a tire on car was a few PSI low... Or when the brakes needed to be bled. I could tell by the smell of the oil when it needed to be changed!!!. I could tell when the sway bar end-links or sway bushings needed to be replaced. Or the rear toe bushings. Commuting sucks

As far as buying something else... I couldn't do it. I love the Z. i love the exterior and the interior. It's a very well-balanced sports car and while it is a tad on the heavy side, How many F'ed-up, wrecked Zs do you see and the driver walks away or lives. Pretty damn impressive from a safety standpoint if you ask me.
Nissan left a lot of room for mods... how huge are those rear fender wells? i mean, a 245 stock tire fits in there... as does a 285, 295, 305... Kick-***! There's a huge aftermarket for the car.
I also love the 6-cyl engine (I think my particular 06 was a POS. at least the enine/drivetrain). V-8's are fast, sure, but where's the challenge in that... it's a V-8. Put one in a small car and it'll be fast. It also gets decent gas mileage. If I hada vette or a 335i (turbo), no doubt I'd be getting like 12 MPG around town. But the Z gives me a decent 20 MPG. I am just stuck on the Z.
Plus, I like Z owners. They are really cool. A group of people who appreciate a balance between form and function. They don't have to have the fastest car. I drove a C6 vette and did not like the interior... Kinda ugly and no lateral support in the seats. The EVO's are sure fast and handle well, but they are really not a particularly nice-looking car (same with the STI). (I still think they are bad-***, just not for me) Porsche drivers seem a little stuck up. Mustangs are nice, but are set up for a straight line. The elise would be great, but it would rattle my fillings out on anything but a smooth track. The e46 M3 is nice, but you sit completely upright in it rather than laid-back.
I did not mean to 06-bash. They are all awesome cars. Mine just had some flaws. Also, I am overly-critical of everything.
I think the Z is the perfect sports-car.

I like my 07 also! 4300 miles and ready to start taking on the RX-8s in autocross. Yes, it's that much faster than my previous 03. Now to make the driver faster! Somehow, someway, lots of seat time...

[Glad commute is under 2 miles]LOL Well, it could be a _little_ longer. 2 miles is hardly engough time to have any fun with the z. As soon as it's warmed up, I have less than a mile left to drive. On rural streets too so I can't even open it up...
I should have got a Vespa!!
My 06 crunches the 1-2 shift too. It's realllllly annoying and makes it hard to do the shift fast... hurts 0-60 times for sure.
Should I bother complaining to the dealership?

My recent race with my friends 07 and driving it has made me have mixed reviews
The 06 first- the 06 to me was a nice improvement over my 04. I never like the fact that the road noise and tire feathering was horrendous. Also the buzzing noise was much more apparnt but i do miss the low end torque. When i stepped in the 06 it felt def more refined then my 04 the dampening is greater and the suspension is allows for a sporty yet less noisy ride. The engine was kinda a relief for me due to the fact that i love top end power. The 04s low range was what got me through many street races etc. But im not into the 1/4 racing anymore. Im much into top end road racing and keeping my car above 5k so i was very pleased with what the revup had to offer. The revup makes all of its power higher in the power band such as mine makes 251 rwhp but mostly the pull is uptop. The lack of tq is apparant but for me its nice on the highway. The clutch for me is very soft and easy. Almost civic like. Its nice because its easy to depress but it makes a hella hard time for launching to it being so damn light. And sometimes when speed shifting it does take so much more finess because its finiky. My 04 was very solid i mean it felt like the clutch was fordged from mount doom or something very hard and rough but great for launches and racing because u could predict the engagement and feel more comfortable with it shifting at higher speeds. The 06s also is preety much undiscovered as far as its max potential tuned with every mod cammed . So thats another unknown factor.
07 HR
engine is refined. The tq out put is finally spread and it makes 80% of it spower at around 6.5k which is awesome. Me and my home girls did pulls with the cars and even swapped and the intakes and engine overall pulls at around 4.5k where the revup isnt in its power band and the HR just owns it but funny thing is we didnt race top end . So this remains. The car length from the HR alone was around 3 cars ahead. That was to about speeds of about 120. Beyond that its unknown because it didnt look like it pulled anymore because i was hitting my power band and there preety much stagenent in that position . But until i get a top end run i really wouldnt know the out come. But theres no doubt that the intake performance of the dual setup is more prominent at higher rpms. The growl is even apparant . In my revup the exhaust is simply bliss with the Z sound letting you know your at wot. In the HR the exhuast is silent. The intakes do the music pulling hard in the upper rpms . There def pushing the envelope of the VQ with this setup.
Cons. Didnt feel any different any other way then my 06 other then power. I would think they would make more changes maybey use better material but nope there identical minus inconsistancies with the trans and casing and front shocks being dampened a little more then the current 06 which is dampened more then the 05 and previous. I guess i was expecting a little more then i got. But the engine is the shining acheievement without a doubt. I myself have a goal to hit 300rwhp with my revup but this is looking more and more a HR goal due to its powerout put . Also oil issues with my 06 have hindered me to do anything to it due to warranty claims. So thats a bummer because getting beat by the HR really wanted me to do some motordyne love and some greddy EVOTT exhaust and some test pipes but its really hard when u want to perfect the lemon law if this oil issue becomes that much of a big thing which it seems to be.
Both the 06 and the07 have different demenors in them engine wise. I agree with the previous guy that the 06 is more like a over powered s2k motor while the HR is more the m3 styled performance. Well the previous m3s lol. overall i have no doubt that both motors will mod well but i do wish the revups would push the envelope already man i have seen noone do so and its annoying to see one person in florida out of the entire forum pushing a every bolt on revup. LOL. But so is the same for the HR.
My review i still wouldnt have waited for the HR because i kinda have alot of love for the REvup. I want to mod her so all my peak power is in the upper rpms and just have a great tuned highway car.
The 07 is just the best of both worlds. But yes it will dominate both engines 287 and revup without a doubt. Modded well. ...we just have to wait and see.
