Default just test drove 07 base

As the title says I just test drove an 07 base.
As we were going out of the lot the sales man said that it is a sports car, so get on it.
When I asked him about not going over 4k he said that he did not think that was needed.
Well since I don't think thats the one I will end up with I did go to about 4500.
By the way it was great.
Has everone broken in the way it says in the manual?

Yes.

My car had 39 miles on it when I took it for the first test drive, had 72 on it when I bought it. Everything between 39 and 72 was put on by me.

And then I babied it until it had 1,000 miles on it. It's just that little extra measure of taking care - might not be strictly necessary but I'd rather go by the manual than not, just in case any problem should come up.

Got the car with 5 miles on the odometer and as soon as I took it off the lot I rammed it to 7500rpm back and forth on my way home. Screw your Manual break in procedures. Drive it like you stole it and return it for warranty work when needed

Yes, I tried not to go over 4k rpm within first 1200 miles. It runs great now around 12k miles

Broke it in like the manual says. I figure Nissan puts that recommendation there for a reason. Redline the thing when you get it off the lot and don't complain about oil consumption problems later on.

I assume many of those that are having "oil consuption" problems did break-in theirs by the book.

I currently have 650 miles on my 2006 6MT.
It has been more of a progressive break-in.
The magic number of 1200 miles at 4k...... and now you can go to 7k anytime/all the time, is BS in my opinion.

200-300 I hit 5k a few times
300-500 I hit 6k a few times (with many more 5k's)
500-700 I hit 7k a few times (with many more 5k & 6k's)
700-1,000 I'll increase hitting 5k, 6k & 7k increasing more in that order.
Done with breakin at 1,000.

Its crucial to push your car to the limits within the first 20miles then the first 100. The motor needs to see all the rpms. Better to break it in on the dyno.

Most of drivers with oil consumption that I know of did break-in their car properly. It's a design flaw (according to Nissan), not a break-in issue.

Redllining a new engine will definitely affect its longevity and performance. The parts need to seat themselves. Idiots that "drove it like they stole it" are the reason I buy 'new' cars.

The parts will not seat themselves correctly if you granny the motor like the break in procedure.

There were 11 total miles on my base when I got it. I baby'd her right up to the 1K mile mark and then opened her right up.

When I test drove mine, the guy suggested getting on it. He didn't want a "granny ride." So I eased it up a little but refused to drive the hell out of it. I came to a curve and I wasn't going to slow down b/c I knew I could take it fast. Dude flipped out. He was really scared. I got back, left to look at a G35. Called to tell them I wanted the Z. Right before they put the 30 day tag on, some girl in a riced out eclipse pulled up and starts looking at my new car. Some salesman got chewed out b/c he gave her the keys and was about to let her drive it. She got mad and left.

Sorry for the length. Just wanted to share that experience b/c I found it to be pretty funny.
