Hello everyone. Was driving on the highway yesterday in 07 Z with stock tires. I wanted to push the car, so I took it up to 105MPH. was taking a curve on the highway and car felt unstable for a second. As if the car lost traction for a split second, some kind of flouty feeling. Is this normal? Are stock tires to blame?

 

There could be many things to blame but yeah the stock Bridgestones are a start.

 

How sharp was the curve?

 

The question is relevant for all 350Z drivers.

At some point, depending on surface conditions and other factors, the tires are going to break traction. There are better tires available, but they will not turn the 350Z into a Formula One racer. If you decide to push the limits and test your skills, I suggest that you attend HPDE.

The angle of the curve is approximately 20% and an incline of approximately 15-20%.

 

uhhh, the OE Bridgestone RE040's aren't bad tires, they have pretty good grip, there are a lot of things that could cause you to get squirly. I wouldn't blame the bridgestones. I put the new Pole Positions on my car and I haven't done much aggressive driving yet, but so far they are awesome. For all you toyo guys, you should try the new pole positions if you like performance more than looks.

Could wind effect the traction?

 

took my o3 touring to 152 and felt very solid even around a small bend but have springs, sways,rims, and toyotires...probably would not have done it on a stock set up i have felt the same lift that you speek of from the stock set

 

I had this same problem with my 07. I lowered my car (feels little more stable) and I'm going with Nismo sways, and gt spec front and rear braces to tighten up my suspension and hopefully fix this problem.

I don't think you should be taking any corners at 105Mph...But, then again... I have no room to talk.

 

instead of spending money on worthless mods like an aftermarket intake that will virtually do nothing for your car, use that money to take a racing/driving school and learn to drive your car the way it was meant to be driven.

 

Fix the driver first. Then the car.

 

However I am having problems finding a driving school in Illinois or in neighboring states. Any suggestions?

 

search for circuits in illinois, then find a track day event to attend...they'll most likely have instructors to help you
