I drove my boy's base 06(2k miles) last night and it feels alot lighter and less "sluggish" than my touring 03, st0ck for stock ( except that i got a pop charger) performance aside, the ride is alot softer(bumps), clutch is wayyy softer and seems to shift smoother. since i had my car(40k miles now pushing 73k) it drove this way. the biggest thing for me is the performance, is the revv up motor that much faster? after 1st gear, it seems to accelerate alot faster. is it possible that i have some issue? my car seems to rev alot louder and feels alot heavier, according to the specs the 03 should be lighter..other than leather and tcs.. but that should not make that big a difference, i dont think? i'm beginning to wonder if i'm losing power somewhere cuz i want my z to accelerate like that. We don't really drag, but we kinda got into it sometimes, but it seemed to be a driver's race/ reaction time thing, I can't really tell. but by driving both cars his seems faster ( butt dyno)

I feel quite opposite about mine. Then again I have a really light trim and the friend's 06 I drove was loaded. He also has that ungodly awful HKS exhaust.
I'd take my 03 anyday.

I don't know what the story is with Zs, but with Maximas, intakes always robbed low-end power. Remove your intake and see how it feels. After all, a VQ is a VQ, right? Never hurts to try.

I keep thinking that I bought at a bad time, getting an 06. The power went up the following year. Now they are talking about larger engines in the G. (G37 saying 330+) I finally got the mindset that all Zs and Gs are awesome and that I'll stick with mine. It's a fun car and I'm fortunate to be able to drive it. You'd have to trade every year or 2 just to keep up with what's "current." F that. I'm not driving the fastest car out there now, so who cares if they make a few more that are faster?
Anyway, I haven't had the chance to test any other Zs. I had a roadster with 06 lights play on the highway. I felt pretty good after that... even though he appeared to be stock.
Just enjoy your car... all Zs are AWESOME!

don't get me wrong i love my car, i just want to know that i'm getting the most out of it and that there are no problems, the spark plugs were changes (ngk) about 6 mths ago, the loud i'm referring too is not pop charger loud, well maybe it could be cuz that was the first thing i did. also when it is @ idle, i get some popsout of the exhaust, which i think i read was normal??

Maybe the '06 just feels different as it does have a lighter clutch, and steering feel at higher speeds. The ride is more subdued(noise/bumpiness) and rev-up sound will be different. The '03 has more torque, with the '06 rev-up having a bit more hp. There shouldn't be that much difference between the two.
Do what someone says: go to the track, get it dynoed, or have dealer look and maybe reset something.

Spark plugs? eh there made to lat 100k in these beasts sooo that shouldn't be it. It's probably you being paranoid or jealous of ur boys newer whip, don't be it's not that big a deal plus he's paying much more in depreciation.
