The Z drives safely in the rain, and for that matter on snow and ice. When people get into trouble, it is because they have the wrong or worn tires. Summer performance tires wear quickly (sometimes within 20K miles), and worn tires with inadequate tread can put you into trouble quickly, especially when the roadway is wet. You need 4 snow tires when driving on ice and snow.

on the freeway you will hydroplane alot so stay in the middle lane just to be safe, also no sudden steering movements helps with control.

If it starts to rain just pull to the side of the road, and call your mother for a ride.

I hear that the car loses control easily when driving over heaps of bannana peals. Has anyone had this experience? Whenever banana peals are falling from the sky I usually leave the car in the garage.

The minimum safe diving distance behind a banana truck is 500 feet. It’s the law.

IT CAN DEPEND ON YOUR TIRES.
I have had three completely different sets of tires on this car, and some were definately NOT for wet pavement.

Not bad as long as you leave the traction control on!

Buy yourself some decent tires and drive it like you would any other car in the rain. I have T1r's on mine...and I can push it harder in the rain than I could w/ the stockers when it was dry.

While I really dont like driving in the rain, if I am caught in it then I dont have a choice. The Z performs well if u know what you are doing with the stock potenzas. Just take it slow and easy and you will be fine.

I'm sorry but I did chuckle reading this question. No offense directed towards you. If this was the case it would be unsafe for any vehicle fwd or rwd to e ont he road.

Unfortunately there is a lot of people that do not understand it may not be safe to drive the normal speed limit in the rain. Probably 95% of these accidents are caused by driver error. It is a physical and mental skill after all we are the ones controlling the vehicle on the roadway.

I have (almost bald) stock Potenzas with a Base model (no VDC) and have no problems driving in the rain. You just have to be careful and use your head. That means no "getting on it", accelerating out of corners, etc. Watch out for puddles too... when I see a puddle that I have to drive over, I let off the gas compeletely.

Of course I am aware that driving a rear-wheel drive sports car is not the safest option in the rain, but it's not as bad as you might think. I say if you have another car that you have easy access to to drive in the rain, you should drive that. Otherwise just be careful with the Z out there.

Its a rear wheel drive car. Drive as you would any RWD drive car in the rain (slow down a little & accelerate/brake/shift/turn smoooooooooth) and you will be fine.

My 350z is driven daily
and in missouri it rains a lot.

with a right set of tires .. you will do great in rain.....

I bought the car with Wintertires Dunlop Wintersport M3's or something like that.
I have not had a hydroplaning problem with those yet.

but they are wearing down.
So time to get some new tires.

I drive it everyday to work. It rains every day here too. Make sure you keep good tires. Mine started to slide when they got bad.
